Wyoming tip leads to arrest of Wisconsin man on child pornography possession, sexual exploitation charges

(WFRV) – Authorities in southeastern Wisconsin arrested a 55-year-old man after an investigation revealed he allegedly was trying to meet up with a 12-year-old from Wyoming.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, detectives received a tip from Rock Springs, Wyoming, in February of 2024 regarding an incident where a man, later identified as Shane B. Wilson, 55, from Salem Lakes, was reportedly attempting to meet up with the child in Wyoming.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming law enforcement worked together for several months to further investigate this crime, and they identified Wilson as the suspect.

On the morning of June 13, authorities executed a search warrant at Wilson’s residence, and during a search, they reportedly found a “significant amount” of child pornography. Wilson was subsequently arrested during the search warrant.

Kenosha County Sheriff David Zoerner issued a statement regarding the incident, saying he’s proud of the teamwork and continued effort to keep children safe.

“This case is an example of the outstanding work done by our dedicated detectives and area law enforcement partners to bring Mr. Wilson to justice,” said Zoerner. “We will continue putting in the time and work to keep our children safe and put individuals like Mr. Wilson in jail. The children of our community are our priority; they are our future, and their innocence must be protected. Our Deputies, Detectives, and the entire agency will continue to pursue anyone [who] preys upon the innocent.”

Wisconsin Circuit Court records show that Wilson appeared on behalf of a judge on Tuesday, where a $150,000 cash bond was set. He faces 15 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of child sexual exploitation.
