York County man charged with beating dog to death, dumping body

DOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) – A York County man has been charged for allegedly beating a dog to death and dumping its body in a field.

Northern York County Regional Police say on July 11 they were notified of an animal abuse case involving a deceased dog. Police spoke to a family member who said on July 10 they heard unusual noises in the basement and found Aston Aguilera beating the family’s pit bull “Bali” with a baseball bat.

The family member described Aguilera beating the dog 10-15 times with a baseball bat as it lay on the ground. Aguilera then instructed them to help clean the basement and the dog’s body was dumped in a nearby field.

Police located the dog’s body in the field and returned it to the family for cremation.

Aguilera was charged with one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals – causing serious bodily injury or death. He was released from York County Prison after posting $75,000 bail.
