New York man killed after vehicle strikes concrete barrier on I-95, rolls onto roof

A New York man was killed when the vehicle he was driving struck a concrete barrier on Interstate 95 in Norwalk on Tuesday during a rollover crash.

State troopers received several 911 calls reporting the crash shortly before 3:40 p.m. on I-95 South in the area of Exit 16, according to Connecticut State Police.

A preliminary investigation found that 63-year-old Tiofilo Cruz was driving a 2023 Nissan Altima in the right lane of three when the vehicle left the right side of the highway and struck a concrete jersey barrier, state police said. The vehicle then rolled onto its roof.

According to state police, Cruz, the sole occupant of the Altima, was taken to Norwalk Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:24 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
