A woman who was reading about the Notre Dame Cathedral fire on Monday couldn't believe her eyes when she spotted a religious figure in a photo of the historic church's flaming roof. Lesley Rowan, a 38-year-old mother from Alexandria in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, took to social media to share the photo, which she believes depicted Jesus Christ. The overhaul ups the GLS's luxury game substantially, including available five-zone climate control, a second-row bucket seat option, and an S-class-like executive rear-seat package. Since its debut as the 2007 GL-later renamed GLS-Mercedes-Benz's flagship SUV has been our favorite in the three-row large-SUV class, continuing to defeat all comers even in this year's 10Best Trucks and SUVs awards in its final year before this major redesign.

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has offered to help mediate a political transition in Sudan after the fall of autocratic president Omar al-Bashir to weeks of popular protests, Kiir's office said on Wednesday. His move came seven months after Bashir helped mediate a shaky peace deal between Kiir and the main opposition rebel group in South Sudan, which won independence from Sudan in 2011 after decades of conflict. Bashir, who seized power in a 1989 coup, was himself toppled last week by the military, which has vowed free elections within two years, though protesters remain in the streets, demanding an immediate handover to an interim civilian authority.
The results of Israel's election on April 9 have been interpreted as a victory for the status quo: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party won as many seats as its most serious rival but is best positioned to form a new government. Even though Netanyahu, after four consecutive terms, is personally disliked and faces indictment on corruption charges — and therefore may not actually be able to serve out his full term — the public's desire for stability and familiarity will likely give him the chance to continue his rule. Israeli Jews believe he alone can keep them safe, strong and prosperous.
