Host Bret Baier jumped in to clarify that the unsubstantiated allegation is that Joe Biden was "discussing all of his business deals" with his son.

The senator did not attend the debate previously scheduled for Wednesday against his Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison, stating at a rally earlier in the week that he was “headed back to Washington” and adding: “I'm not coming back until Amy Coney Barrett is a Supreme Court Justice.” Recent polls have shown Mr Harrison, associate chairman of the Democratic National Committee and a former chair of the state's Democratic Party, rising in his bid to unseat the Republican incumbent.

President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden met on Oct. 22 for the final debate in the 2020 election and, like the first debate, it was unusual. What's more, with norm-breaking interruptions and stealing of speaking time an inherent part of Donald Trump's debate strategy, the contentious crosstalk between the two candidates and the moderator made long sections of the candidates' first debate nearly impossible to hear or follow. Although news coverage generally focuses on what the candidates say, as a political psychologist who studies nonverbal behavior, I focus less on the rehearsed answers and more on the space between talking points.
Mabel Cook is older than the right to vote, and in advance of her 101st birthday on Oct. 28, she exercised that right. The only reason she did not vote for the other four — Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge or Herbert Hoover — was because she was just too young. Now, at her advanced age, Cook is living up to her maiden name — Duty — by doing her civic duty and voting.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that there has been progress between Democrats and the Trump administration on a second stimulus package — but it could be “a while” until a bill is written and passed. On another round of stimulus checks, Pelosi said, “we've come, I think, to terms.” Democrats haven't reached an agreement with the White House on state and local funds, election and census provisions and business liability protections, the publication reported.
For what it's worth, Democratic presidential nominee pretty consistently won his final debate against President Trump, according to most reputable snap polls conducted after the Thursday night showdown in Nashville. There was also "the unscientific CNN North Carolina 'undecided voter' panel" that had "Biden 9, Trump 0, a Draw 2," notes Josh Jordan. Trump's performance in his first face-off against Biden was so bad, by the next day Jared Kushner was "imploring friendly media personalities and other allies to level with his father-in-law about the angry and aggressive debate style he had displayed," The Wall Street Journal reports.

Asked during a video conference with international foreign policy experts Thursday whether a military union between Moscow and Beijing was possible, Putin replied that “we don't need it, but, theoretically, it's quite possible to imagine it. Russia and China have hailed their “strategic partnership,” but so far rejected any talk about the possibility of their forming a military alliance.
It's unclear how much the couple paid for the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom house seven years ago. The exterior of the single-story abode features a charming brick façade with wall-climbing greenery; inside, the 2,300-square-foot home boasts lofted wood-beam ceilings, hardwood floors, and intricate chandeliers. The kitchen, which revolves around an oversize limestone-topped center island with a farmhouse sink, features a colorful patterned backsplash.
Just minutes after President Trump declared during Thursday night's debate that migrant kids separated from their parents are "so well taken care of" inside U.S. facilities, the Lincoln Project released a searing four-second ad combining his words with the wails of children. This week, lawyers tasked with reuniting migrant kids with their families told a court they haven't been able to track down the parents of 545 children. They were separated under the Trump administration's zero-tolerance policy, and when asked about this by moderator Kristen Welker, Trump claimed the government is working to find the parents, but added that many are smuggled into the country by coyotes and when kids are ...

The bank's Malaysia unit also pleaded guilty to conspiring to violate foreign bribery laws, said Brian Rabbitt, acting head of the U.S. Justice Department's criminal division. The scandal dates to the government of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, which set up the 1MDB fund in 2009.
Kyrgyzstan's parliament voted Thursday to put off a re-run of contested parliamentary elections for after a constitutional reform that commentators say could allow the acting president — a politician recently freed from jail — to strengthen his grip on power and stay in office for a full term. The move comes just a day after election officials set a re-run for Dec. 20 of a parliamentary election which was invalidated earlier this month amid mass protests. Protesters also freed several politicians from jail, including Sadyr Zhaparov, who was quickly named the new prime minister after the cabinet resigned amid unrest.
Sri Lanka's Parliament by a large majority has approved a constitutional amendment concentrating powers under President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and reversing reforms a previous government had made to curb authoritarianism. After the August elections gave him the parliamentary votes to change the charter, Rajapaksa had said the amendment would be his government's priority because the reduced presidential powers hindered his work. The 20th Amendment to the constitution was passed late Thursday with a 91-vote majority with 156 lawmakers in the 225-member Parliament voting in favor.
