Filmmaker Michael Moore said on Thursday that he was wary of polls for the 2020 presidential election which show Donald Trump trailing in the race behind Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Moore warned that the Trump vote is “always being undercounted” because his supporters are suspicious of the so-called “deep state”. “It's awful news that Biden is ahead by seven points in Michigan and I have to fight against this constantly,” said the documentary filmmaker while appearing on Hill.TV.
A US delegation led by the national security advisor, Robert O'Brien, was treated like "human petri dishes" in Vietnam, Bloomberg reported. Vietnam has been a coronavirus success story, recording about 1,300 cases throughout the pandemic, while the US has recorded the most COVID-19 cases and deaths of any country. O'Brien and his entourage were tested for the coronavirus upon arrival, housed on the same floor of a Hanoi hotel, and had their meals left outside their doors, Bloomberg said.
The U.S. State Department has informed staff that the transition process has begun and a team had been assigned inside the agency to support a handover to the incoming Biden administration, according to an internal email seen by Reuters on Wednesday. The guidelines, sent on Wednesday, came after the General Services Administration (GSA), the federal agency that must sign off on presidential transitions, notified President-elect Joe Biden on Monday that he could formally begin the handover. "Following the November 3 election, representatives of President-elect Biden's Transition Team have arrived at the Department of State to support preparations for the transition," the email said.

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. – Here's a reminder of why you should stop taking Zoom into the bathroom. A New Jersey school board member accidentally broadcast her bathroom break during a board meeting. Frances Cogelja, a Hackensack school board member, resigned Tuesday after the broadcast, NorthJersey.com, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis has been accused of overseeing a “killing spree”, after he extended a ban on cities in the state imposing their own mask mandates. On Wednesday, Mr DeSantis extended an executive order issued in September, which prevented local governments from fining residents who refused to wear face masks, or from closing restaurants not complying with coronavirus measures. The decision on 25 September prompted the start of the state's third phase of pandemic measures, which allowed restaurants and bars to open at 100 per cent capacity.
There's a chance President Trump's pardon of Michael Flynn could backfire some day. In 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contact with former Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Flynn's sentencing was delayed while he cooperated with former Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, but earlier this year, Flynn's new legal team accused prosecutors of misconduct and asked to have his guilty plea withdrawn.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he would step down after a new constitution is adopted, the state-owned BelTA news agency cited him as saying on Friday. Belarus has been rocked by months of anti-government protests ever since Lukashenko — often referred to as “Europe's last dictator” — claimed victory in an Aug. 9 presidential election that his opponents say was rigged, a charge he denies. It remained unclear whether Lukashenko's comments were sincere or whether he was just paying lip service to the prospect of him stepping aside.
A group of Republicans has lost one of two legal challenges brought before the Texas Supreme Court in the hope of invalidating nearly 127,000 drive-thru votes placed in Houston. The plaintiffs - a longtime activist Dr Steven Hotze, along with state Representative Steve Toth, US House candidate Wendell Champion, and judicial candidate Sharon Hemphill - had challenged the validity of the drive-thru voting on the grounds that it violated federal law. In the plea, they had also argued that Democratic Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins exceeded his constitutional authority by permitting drive-thru voting.
Donald Trump Jr. announced Wednesday night that he'd been cleared to end his COVID-19 isolation and celebrate Thanksgiving "the way it's meant to be." On Friday, Trump Jr. announced that he tested positive for COVID-19. It's not clear when Trump Jr. received his positive diagnosis, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend even asymptomatic COVID patients isolate for 10 days.
Donald Trump admitted it was a "very hard thing to concede" electoral defeat but committed to leaving the White House if the Electoral College votes for Joe Biden, the Democrat president-elect as he attended a Thanksgiving event on Thursday. "It's going to be a very hard thing to concede because we know there was massive fraud," Mr Trump said, refusing to say whether he would attend Mr Biden's inauguration in January. In the nearest he has come to a concession, Mr Trump said he would leave the White House if Mr Biden is certified the election winner by the Electoral College - the process by which presidents are elected - on December 14.
His break in the case came with a secretly-recorded call between Stefanko and Cobb's mother, Cindee, who testified Stefanko admitted to ordering the pizza and trying to cover up the murder. Every time I hear a siren, I think, 'They're coming for me,'” Stefanko told Cobb, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. I carried out my part.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered at least two people executed, banned fishing at sea and locked down the capital, Pyongyang, as part of frantic efforts to guard against the coronavirus and its economic damage, South Korea's spy agency told lawmakers Friday. Kim's government also ordered diplomats overseas to refrain from any acts that could provoke the United States because it is worried about President-elect Joe Biden's expected new approach toward North Korea, lawmakers told reporters after attending a private briefing by the National Intelligence Service.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson claims to have acquired incriminating documents about Hunter Biden, son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe – and then lost them in the post. In a bizarre segment on Wednesday night's show, Carlson alleged that his team mailed the documents from New York to Los Angeles after receiving them from a “source” on Monday, but that the bundle never arrived. Without providing any further details or evidence, Carlson said the “damning” documents had “vanished” en route, heavily implying foul play.
Gov. Cuomo said SCOTUS issued a political decision that is "irrelevant from any practical impact" because the religious institutions that sued are no longer under restrictions.
Dominion Voting Systems, a provider of election infrastructure, responded on Thursday to the pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell's accusations that it took part in vote rigging. In a point-by-point rejoinder, Dominion said Powell was "alleging a bizarre election fraud conspiracy" that would be impossible to carry out. Powell was until recently part of President Donald Trump's legal team.
I'll never know if it's simply my reaction to fatherhood or a symptom of the pandemic we're living through, because I'll only ever become a dad once and this is my lot – but I can certainly hazard a guess. While no first-time mum or dad is ever fully prepared for the frenzied first months of parenthood – a mix of sleep deprivation, adrenaline and joy, like vodka Red Bull for the brain – they don't usually get shunted into a nationwide lockdown straight after. Nor do they have every conceivable support rail snatched away at once.
The U.S. government on Wednesday appealed a judge's order barring the expulsions of immigrant children who crossed the border alone, a policy enacted during the coronavirus pandemic to deny the children asylum protections. Judge Emmet Sullivan issued a preliminary injunction on Nov. 18 sought by advocates for immigrants that barred expulsions of unaccompanied children under public health laws. The Justice Department filed a notice of appeal Wednesday night to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
In a surprise news conference on Thanksgiving Day, President Trump took questions from the press for the first time since losing re-election—but he doubled down on his “rigged” election claims and appeared to deny the reality that his presidency is ending, saying it will be “very hard” for him to concede to Joe Biden. “I think it's not right he's trying to pick a Cabinet,” Trump complained after railing against the supposed “massive fraud” that he claims gave Biden victory. Reiterating his claims of voter fraud in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia despite the fact that state authorities have already certified the election results in those states, Trump appeared to become combative when asked if he would concede if the Electoral College votes for Biden on Dec. 14.
To tell that story, let's go back to earlier this year, before the coronavirus, to a wheat field in north-central Texas at dusk. Peering through an infrared night-vision scope atop his customized AR 15-style rifle, Fred Jones spied his prey trotting into the field by the dozens. In Texas you don't need a permit to kill wild hogs on public or private land.
The US State Department has approved the sale of advanced weaponry systems to Taiwan, in a deal worth some $1.8bn that includes sensors, missiles and artillery, the Pentagon said. Among the weapons systems in Wednesday's deal were 11 truck-based rocket launchers made by Lockheed Martin Corp, known as the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), at an estimated cost of $436.1m. The deal also includes 135 precision-guided cruise missiles, as well as mobile light rocket launchers and air reconnaissance pods that can be attached to fighter jets.
President Donald Trump on Thursday called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger an "enemy of the people." The Trump campaign has targeted Raffensperger — a Republican who is the state's top election official — after Georgia voted for a Democratic presidential candidate for the first time in nearly 30 years. The outgoing president continues to claim, without evidence, that widespread voter fraud in key states like Georgia helped Joe Biden win the election.
Black Friday is finally here, and with it, huge amounts of deals—but this Sony headphone price drop is so good it deserves its own article, so here we are. Released earlier this year to rave reviews, the Sony WH-1000XM4 are Sony's flagship noise-cancelling headphones. In this year of working remotely or learning from a distance, it might not seem like noise-cancelling wireless headphones are a necessity.
Volunteers who received two of the potential coronavirus vaccines in the US have spoken out about the side-effects they experienced following their jabs. This month, Moderna and Pfizer announced their vaccine candidates had been tested to 94.5 per cent and 95 per cent efficacy respectively. Jennifer Haller, who was injected on 16 March with Moderna's experimental vaccine in Seattle, told WVPI-TV she only experienced mild side-effects as a result.
Gwyneth Paltrow shared her Thanksgiving Day with two of the people she's most thankful for — her children. The actor-turned-entrepreneur went on an outing with her look-alike 16-year-old daughter, Apple, and her 14-year-old son, Moses, on Thursday, and she captured a sweet photo as they honored another member of the family who couldn't be there. The photo, which shows Paltrow standing in between the kids she shares with her ex-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, is one of only a few pics she's ever shared on Instagram that features both teens together.

“Mr. Biden’s victory — and Mr. Trump’s defeat — is a testament to the resilience of American democracy.”
“Trump’s 2020 reelection bid was doomed by his boorish behavior. Time and again, he refused to act like a president.”
