Vietnam has been a coronavirus success story, recording about 1,300 cases throughout the pandemic, while the US has recorded the most COVID-19 cases and deaths of any country. O'Brien and his entourage were tested for the coronavirus upon arrival, housed on the same floor of a Hanoi hotel, and had their meals left outside their doors, Bloomberg said. The US Air Force team that piloted O'Brien's plane was not permitted to enter Vietnam and spent the night in neighboring Thailand.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has been accused of overseeing a “killing spree”, after he extended a ban on cities in the state imposing their own mask mandates. On Wednesday, Mr DeSantis extended an executive order issued in September, which prevented local governments from fining residents who refused to wear face masks, or from closing restaurants not complying with coronavirus measures. The decision on 25 September prompted the start of the state's third phase of pandemic measures, which allowed restaurants and bars to open at 100 per cent capacity.

In a surprise news conference on Thanksgiving Day, President Trump took questions from the press for the first time since losing re-election—but he doubled down on his “rigged” election claims and appeared to deny the reality that his presidency is ending, saying it will be “very hard” for him to concede to Joe Biden. “I think it's not right he's trying to pick a Cabinet,” Trump complained after railing against the supposed “massive fraud” that he claims gave Biden victory. Reiterating his claims of voter fraud in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia despite the fact that state authorities have already certified the election results in those states, Trump appeared to become combative when asked if he would concede if the Electoral College votes for Biden on Dec. 14.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered at least two people executed, banned fishing at sea and locked down the capital, Pyongyang, as part of frantic efforts to guard against the coronavirus and its economic damage, South Korea's spy agency told lawmakers Friday. In a bizarre segment on Wednesday night's show, Carlson alleged that his team mailed the documents from New York to Los Angeles after receiving them from a “source” on Monday, but that the bundle never arrived. Without providing any further details or evidence, Carlson said the “damning” documents had “vanished” en route, heavily implying foul play.
There's a chance President Trump's pardon of Michael Flynn could backfire some day. In 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contact with former Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Flynn's sentencing was delayed while he cooperated with former Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, but earlier this year, Flynn's new legal team accused prosecutors of misconduct and asked to have his guilty plea withdrawn.
His break in the case came with a secretly-recorded call between Stefanko and Cobb's mother, Cindee, who testified Stefanko admitted to ordering the pizza and trying to cover up the murder. A group of Republicans has lost one of two legal challenges brought before the Texas Supreme Court in the hope of invalidating nearly 127,000 drive-thru votes placed in Houston. The plaintiffs - a longtime activist Dr Steven Hotze, along with state Representative Steve Toth, US House candidate Wendell Champion, and judicial candidate Sharon Hemphill - had challenged the validity of the drive-thru voting on the grounds that it violated federal law. In the plea, they had also argued that Democratic Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins exceeded his constitutional authority by permitting drive-thru voting.

Sununu has ruled by executive order during the pandemic, and his recent statewide mask mandate violates constitutional rights, the resolution's backers said. But the vast majority of New Hampshire residents approve of the way Sununu handled the pandemic.
I'll never know if it's simply my reaction to fatherhood or a symptom of the pandemic we're living through, because I'll only ever become a dad once and this is my lot – but I can certainly hazard a guess. While no first-time mum or dad is ever fully prepared for the frenzied first months of parenthood – a mix of sleep deprivation, adrenaline and joy, like vodka Red Bull for the brain – they don't usually get shunted into a nationwide lockdown straight after. Nor do they have every conceivable support rail snatched away at once.
To tell that story, let's go back to earlier this year, before the coronavirus, to a wheat field in north-central Texas at dusk. Peering through an infrared night-vision scope atop his customized AR 15-style rifle, Fred Jones spied his prey trotting into the field by the dozens. In Texas you don't need a permit to kill wild hogs on public or private land.
Donald Trump has raged at Twitter after the platform suspended a personal account belonging to a Pennsylvania state senator who presided over a conspiracy-filled “hearing” among GOP lawmakers to amplify false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
