Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions told a crowd of college students in Massachusetts on Wednesday night that the conclusion of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into the Trump campaign and Russia's election interference meant it was time to "get on with the business of America." Sessions, who recused himself from overseeing the investigation in its beginnings, spoke at an event hosted by student Republicans at Amherst College. President Donald Trump's former attorney general, who was fired in November, said Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in U.S. elections was "carried out vigorously and with integrity."
Elizabeth Warren had a singular moment at Wednesday's She the People forum that helped her stand out from the other the other Democrats seeking the support of an audience made up mostly of women of color activists. After answering a series of questions on topics ranging from maternal mortality, affordable housing and criminal justice to bank reform and Native American tribal sovereignty, Sen. Warren, D-Mass., was asked by co-moderator Joy Reid whether voters should feel confident that America was ready for a woman to serve as commander in chief. “We are at She the People, this wonderful organization that is empowering women and women of color, but when I talk with women of color in my own life they'll say, Wow, that Elizabeth Warren has great plans.
An armed group that has been patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border left its post in the New Mexico desert Tuesday amid pressure from law enforcement following videos that showed militia members stopping migrants who had illegally crossed into the country. Sunland Park police and security officers with a railroad company told members of the United Constitutional Patriots on Tuesday they needed to move their trailers and equipment. Union Pacific Railroad said the group crossed its land to access the site and requested that the group not trespass onto its property.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet on Thursday in the Russian Pacific port of Vladivostok to discuss the international standoff over Pyongyang's nuclear program, a Kremlin official said. The visit is part of Kim's effort to build foreign support after the breakdown of a second U.S.-North Korea summit in Vietnam in February meant no relief on sanctions for North Korea, analysts said. The summit will be the first between Putin and the North Korean leader and the nuclear row, and how to resolve it, would be the main item on the agenda, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters.

And while he knows who he'd want to interview on his Netflix show, there is just one tiny problem – the top choice is among the few people who have not jumped into the presidential race. It will be interesting to see how everything shapes up, things are changing so fast,“ the comedian told TIME at the 2019 TIME 100 gala Tuesday.

Sri Lanka's top defence official resigned on Thursday over security failures that led to the deadly Easter bombings, as Catholic churches suspended all services fearing further attacks. Sri Lanka's government has come under increasing pressure over the revelation it failed to act on intelligence about planned attacks, which claimed nearly 360 lives, and Hemasiri Fernando had been widely expected to step down. A defence ministry official said Fernando had submitted a letter of resignation to head-of-state Maithripala Sirisena.
Deutsche Bank has begun to provide documents on financing for some of President Donald Trump's projects to New York State authorities, a source familiar with the matter told AFP on Wednesday. In mid-March, New York Attorney General Letitia James subpoenaed the German bank, demanding records related to loans and lines of credit granted to the Trump Organization. The money was intended to finance projects such as Trump hotels in Washington, DC, Miami and Chicago, another source told AFP last month on the condition of anonymity.
That protest represented a watershed moment, the point when student debt went from being a personal problem to a political one, the result of decades of disinvestment in public colleges and universities that turned education into a consumer product instead of a public good. We kicked things off with the Rolling Jubilee fund, a public education campaign that bought and cancelled more than $30m in medical, student debt, payday loans and private probation debts. Then, in 2015, the Debt Collective launched the country's first student debt strike.
For Russian President Vladimir Putin, a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un offers a chance to raise Moscow's clout in the region and gain more leverage with Washington. While Russia's ability to influence Kim's position is limited compared to that of China, a dialogue with Kim could allow Putin to emerge as an essential player in the North Korean nuclear standoff. With Russia-U.S. ties at their post-Cold War low over the Ukrainian crisis, the war in Syria and Russia's meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, the crisis over North Korea is a rare subject where Moscow and Washington could find some common ground and engage in political dialogue.
“It's my God-given right to be here,” said one balaclava-clad militia member who gave his name only as Viper. Chafing at the hostile reactions to the militia's actions, he said that he was an Army veteran and that he expected his group, if pushed out, to set up camp in another location along the border. “The guys in Washington say one thing about not wanting us on the ground, but no one from the Border Patrol here has ever told me they don't want our help,” he said, squinting under the midday sun.

U.S. stocks hovered below their all-time highs on Wednesday, as investors digested a mixed batch of earnings reports and losses in energy stocks limited gains on the indexes. The S&P 500 is 0.3% below its record high of 2,940.91 hit in September. The index has rallied 17% this year, supported by a dovish Federal Reserve, hopes of a U.S.-China trade resolution and a largely upbeat earnings season.
The investigation was tied to the "#FeelingCute" challenge, the department said last week. The Houston Chronicle — which reported earlier this month that officers were apparently linked to posts with captions such as "Feeling cute, might just gas some inmates today, IDK" — reported on Tuesday that four officers have been fired and two resigned because of the investigation. Texas Department of Criminal Justice statements to the Chronicle and the Associated Press did not provide details on the social media content involved in the firings.
The Easter Sunday bomber who lived and studied in the UK was under police surveillance in Sri Lanka in the years leading up to the suicide attacks that killed more than 350 people, according to his friends. Abdul Lathief Jameel Mohamed, who is married with children, is believed to have been the bomber behind the seventh and final attack on a guesthouse in the capital of Colombo on Sunday. Family friends said Jameel Mohamed, who spent a year at Kingston University in 2006, was being monitored by police in Sri Lanka as he plotted the terror attacks with seven other suspected jihadis, raising further questions about security lapses with the Sri Lankan intelligence services.

President Trump continues to claim exoneration from special counsel Robert Mueller's report, while simultaneously attacking it, as Democrats debate whether the accounts of Trump's repeated attempts to interfere with the probe justify pursuing his impeachment. “The Mueller Report, despite being written by Angry Democrats and Trump Haters, and with unlimited money behind it ($35,000,000), didn't lay a glove on me,” Trump tweeted early Wednesday. Departing the White House on Wednesday, Trump continued to rail against the probe.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin gives an intriguing twist to the global diplomatic push to resolve the nuclear standoff with North Korea, which appeared to hit a wall after a summit between Kim and President Donald Trump collapsed in February. It also adds a chapter to the storied but often-strained friendship between Pyongyang and Moscow, which was forged in war and weathered by the Soviet collapse and tensions surrounding the North's pursuit of nuclear weapons.
