Heading into the final week of the 2020 presidential campaign, former Vice President Joe Biden now holds his largest-ever lead over President Trump, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll — a 12-point margin that's four times the size of Hillary Clinton's national advantage over Trump at this point in 2016. The survey, which was conducted from Oct. 23 to 25, found that 54 percent of likely voters have either already voted for Biden or plan to vote for him by Election Day. In comparison, a YouGov poll conducted one week before the 2016 election showed Clinton leading Trump by 3 percentage points among likely voters, 48 percent to 45 percent; at that stage, the average of all national surveys gave Clinton a lead of 2.2 percentage points.
Michigan police chiefs say that may not be able to enforce a ban on carrying guns at polling places, local news channel WKAR reported. The ban was imposed in October by Michigan secretary of state Jocelyn Benson in response to concerns of voter intimidation on Election Day. Members of a far-right so-called militia group were recently charged with plotting to kidnap and assassinate Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
An 18-year-old who was shot Saturday at Nockamixon State Park died from his injuries, according to authorities. Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub said Jason Kutt died after he was shot at the park about 5:15 p.m. Saturday. Kutt was sitting with his girlfriend near the lake when he was shot in the back of his neck, he said.

Prominent Saudi women's rights activist Loujain al-Hathloul, held in Saudi Arabia since 2018, began a new hunger strike on Monday over the conditions of her detention, her family said. Hathloul's sister Lina told Reuters that the main demand was to be allowed regular contact with her family. In late August Hathloul went on a six-day hunger strike after authorities at Riyadh's al-Hair prison cut off contact for over four months.
A fire department in California captured a dramatic rescue on camera — but it wasn't quite what you might expect. The Alameda County Fire Department responded to a hawk in distress, video posted on Twitter shows. The bird got caught in netting on the roof of a gas station in Newark, according to the fire department.

Law enforcement agencies across Ohio cooperated in a monthlong investigation, dubbed Operation Autumn Hope, that led to 179 arrests and the recovery of 45 missing children. In all, 109 human trafficking victims were rescued and referred to social services, the Ohio Attorney General's Office reported. More than 50 agencies participated in the operation, which also included the arrest of a man and the recovery of two children in West Virginia.

In televised remarks on state TV, Putin "took the time to knock down what he made clear he regarded as false allegations from Trump about the Bidens," Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his son Hunter, Reuters reports. Putin said Trump's story about Hunter Biden getting money from the widow of a former Moscow mayor was news to him, even though Trump tried to tie Putin to the alleged payment.

Fox News staffers are "in a panic" about election-night coverage after several of the network's top hosts were exposed a COVID-19 patient and told to quarantine, a staffer told The Daily Beast on Monday. Several top execs and hosts — including Fox News' president, Jay Wallace, and chief political correspondent, Bret Baier — took a flight with someone who later tested positive for the coronavirus. An internal memo sent to staffers on Monday said the network would be paring down staff for election-night operations after multiple positive cases, The Daily Beast reported.

Democratic Senate nominee Jaime Harrison has spent millions upon millions of dollars in the last several months attacking his Republican opponent, Senator Lindsey Graham, for not being transparent with South Carolinians about where he stands on the key political issues of the day, from immigration reform and racial justice to his support more broadly for Donald Trump. Mr Harrison and Democrats across the country have assailed Mr Graham for “flip-flopping” on his declaration in 2016 — which he re-affirmed again in a now-infamous clip from the winter of 2018 — that he would not seat a Supreme Court nominee during the 2020 presidential election season.
Laura and Scott Van Doormaal spent months fundraising to afford a life-saving treatment for their daughter, Lucy. Lucy has spinal muscular atrophy, and was not expected to live past two without treatment.
