With President Trump signaling that he'll refuse to concede a narrow defeat, some Democrats want Joe Biden to target one state that could decisively block a Trump path to victory.'Aim for the goal that ends it' »
Anything can go wrong—from a faulty connection, a verbal slip-up, or, as was the case on Tuesday morning's Fox & Friends, Rudy Giuliani bellowing insane conspiracy theories at the nation with no obvious way to stop him. It's always a risk to allow Giuliani to share his wildly unpredictable stream of consciousness live. The man who was named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2001 has long since been reduced to sharing the latest Trumpist conspiracy theories on any cable news channel that has the budget to cover any possible subsequent defamation lawsuits.
US Sen. Mitch McConnell and his challenger in the Kentucky Senate race, Amy McGrath, are sparring over upcoming debates. It all started when Mr McConnell sent a press release from "Team Mitch" accusing his opponent of potentially backing out of a debate in October. In a press release issued Monday, Ms McGrath's campaign alleged that "Amy is ready and willing to debate Mitch, but Mitch is afraid to take the stage unless he dictates every detail."
The revelation, per Sunday's New York Times report, that President Trump paid little to no federal income tax in recent years will redirect the conversation at Tuesday night's general election debate. In broad strokes, there are two reasons to vote for Trump in 2020: liking who he is or liking what (you think) he'll do. The personality voter likes how crude and cunning Trump is.
Wildlife officials in Zimbabwe say they suspect a bacterial disease is responsible for the deaths of more than 30 elephants since late August. The elephants were found lying on their stomachs, which experts say suggests they died suddenly. Earlier this year hundreds of elephants were found dead in Botswana from a type of bacterial poisoning.
The director of the Auschwitz Memorial in Poland has offered to serve time for a Nigerian child who was convicted of blasphemy and ordered to spend ten years in prison by a Sharia court . In an open letter, Piotr Cywinski asked Nigeria's President to intervene and pardon 13-year-old Omar Farouq for the conviction. “As the director of the Auschwitz memorial, which commemorates the victims and preserves the remains of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camps, where children were imprisoned and murdered, I cannot remain indifferent to this disgraceful sentence for humanity,” he wrote.
Fox News hosts appeared visibly uncomfortable when the president's lawyer began launching baseless claims about former Vice President Joe Biden in an interview with the conservative network's morning show on Tuesday, alleging without evidence the Democratic presidential nominee "has dementia" and adding: "There's no doubt about it." Rudy Giuliani seemed to ramp up Donald Trump's attacks against his Democratic opponent just hours before the first of the presidential debates, taking the president's claims that Mr Biden was not mentally fit and offering his own diagnosis despite not actually being a doctor or having any professional experience in medicine, health or science. “The man has dementia,” Mr Giuliani said, leaving the network's morning show hosts completely silent.
The lead attorney for U.S. President Donald Trump's former national security adviser on Tuesday told a federal judge that she has discussed the ongoing criminal case with the president and asked him not to pardon Michael Flynn, an extraordinary admission that raises questions about political interference. At the same hearing, U.S. Justice Department lawyers denied any corruption or political motives in efforts to get the federal criminal case against Flynn dropped. In May, Attorney General William Barr stunned many in the legal community by ordering prosecutors to have the case dropped, a decision that came after Trump repeatedly complained that Flynn was being treated unfairly.

According to an online fundraising drive apparently organised by the family of Myles Cosgrove, it is no longer safe for the Louisville officer to remain in his job. It said his relatives were trying to raise enough money for him to stand down from the force, and take care of his family.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) holds a weekly press conference at the Capitol on September 24, 2020 in Washington, DC. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., warned Democrats that the House of Representatives may have to decide the election winner if neither candidate wins an outright majority in the Electoral College. The chances that neither President Donald Trump nor Democratic nominee Joe Biden will win at least 270 electoral votes are slim, according to election forecaster FiveThirtyEight, but Pelosi sent a letter to Democratic colleagues on Sunday preparing lawmakers for the possibility that the election may be deadlocked.
Aviation safety expert and famed pilot Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III said that during the pandemic, he will only fly on airlines that leave middle seats empty. The students told a resident advisor about the fake threat and police were notified, KPRC reported.

Former staffers from Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign want to harness strong support for the Vermont senator among Hispanics to bolster Joe Biden in two battleground states that could prove critical in November's election. Nuestro PAC is launching a 30-second spot that will begin airing Thursday for two weeks in heavily Hispanic Nevada and in Iowa, another state where the growing Latino population is largely overlooked. Backed by a six-figure ad buy, the spot features Hispanic staffers of Sanders' campaign saying they worked hard for him during the Democratic primary, “But now, we're all for Joe Biden, because Biden's endorsed by Bernie.”
The former special counsel Robert Mueller issued a statement Tuesday pushing back on claims his former right-hand man in the Russia probe, Andrew Weissmann, put forth in a newly released memoir. Weissmann accused Mueller and his top deputy, Aaron Zebley, of not doing enough to hold President Donald Trump accountable and refusing to take certain prosecutorial steps out of fear that Trump would shut down the investigation. "It is not surprising that members of the Special Counsel's Office did not always agree, but it is disappointing to hear criticism of our team based on incomplete information," Mueller said in his statement.
Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron said he would comply with a judge's order to release the grand jury recording in the Breonna Taylor case after a grand juror alleged that Cameron had misrepresented the deliberations. An attorney for the juror told The New York Times that Cameron "misrepresented" the deliberations and "failed to offer the panel the option of indicting the two officers who fatally shot the young woman." The attorney general's office said it is "confident" in the case they presented but acknowledged that jurors were not given the option of indicting Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Det.

Although the boy was not in his class, Helaine said he was removed from the classroom for two months and then prohibited from teaching children under the age of 6 years old.
The Trump campaign has pushed for Joe Biden's ears to be inspected for electronic devices or transmitters ahead of the first presidential debate, according to a new report. Currently the two campaigns are negotiating the details of the debates, mere hours before the candidates will face off against each other for the first time. Fox News reported that Donald Trump and his team have asked for the ears to be inspected by a third party for each candidate, as they accuse Mr Biden of potentially wearing a device that could feed him lines during the debate.
Wyoming is appealing for hunters in the United States to visit their state and shoot as many goats as possible, in what one official termed "every hunter's dream". The 100 mountain goats in the Grand Teton National Park are considered by state and federal officials an invasive animal, and a threat to the region's bighorn sheep. A helicopter was sent to kill the mountain goats in February, and the gunmen on board managed to shoot 38 goats - a third of the population - in one day.

“Enfranchising 16-year-olds would be good for them and good for our democracy.”
“At 16, most kids have little awareness of politics, civics, or American history.”
“Voting is habit forming...which underscores the importance of having as stable an environment as possible for the youngest voters.”
“Keeping the voting age at 18 is not a slap at 16-year-olds. It is recognition that an informed electorate is the best kind.”
“When young people’s participation lags badly, issues important to them receive short shrift in the public discourse.”
