When Democrats seeking the nomination for president debate June 26 and 27, they will try to move up the leaderboard while avoiding a flub that could ruin their chances. Don't expect the kind of theater Republicans displayed in their first debate in 2015 when Fox's Megyn Kelly asked candidate Donald Trump why he had referred to some women as "fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals." Trump shot back in a way that the nation has since come to know well: "I've been challenged by so many people, and I don't frankly have time for total political correctness."
The driver of a pickup truck in a crash that killed seven motorcyclists will be arraigned Tuesday in a New Hampshire court on charges of negligent homicide. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has slammed Liz Cheney in an escalation of tension between the two congresswomen over calling migrant detention camps at the US-Mexico border “concentration camps”. Ms Ocasio-Cortez, who had first described the detention facilities as concentration camps during an Instagram Live appearance last week, claimed that Ms Cheney had actually invoked the Holocaust. “Reminder: the member who directly + explicitly compared concentration camps on our border to the Holocaust was *Liz Cheney*.
Britain does not expect the United States to request that the United Kingdom joins a war with Iran and London would be unlikely to agree to join such a conflict, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said on Tuesday. "The U.S. is our closest ally, we talk to them the whole time, we consider any requests that they say carefully, but I cannot envisage any situation where they request or we agree to any moves to go to war," Hunt told parliament. The message we are sending with our partners in the European Union particularly the French and the Germans is that with respect to Iran's nuclear programme, this is a crucial week.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said Tuesday that new US sanctions against senior Iranian officials including top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif showed Washington is "lying" about an offer to negotiate. "At the same time as you call for negotiations you seek to sanction the foreign minister? It's obvious that you're lying," Rouhani said in a meeting with ministers broadcast live on TV.

NASA's Mars missions have provided mankind with a wealth of knowledge about our dusty orange neighbor, but signs of life have been hard to come by. We know that Mars was one probably very, very wet, and that it likely had a more robust atmosphere long ago, but has life ever called Mars home? We simply don't know, but a new discovery made by the Curiosity rover offers what might be a tantalizing clue.
Here's what happened. Weird: India Sent a Really Old MiG-21 to Battle an U.S. Made F-16. On Feb. 26, 2019 Indian planes crossed the line of control at India's border with Pakistan and bombed what New Dehli described as a terrorist training camp near Balakot. President Donald Trump said Sunday that he'd prefer to run for re-election against Joe Biden, suggesting that the former vice president won't be the "great candidate" Hillary Clinton was in 2016. Trump told NBC's "Meet the Press" that Clinton was "very smart. Asked if he'd rather face Clinton again, the president said, "I would actually rather run against Biden" because "Sleepy Joe.
Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said he underestimated the challenges of governing the country before his shock election victory last year. I underestimated because we were on the outside and we didn't get any information on what was happening on the inside,” Mahathir said in an interview with Bloomberg Television's Haslinda Amin in Bangkok at the 5th Bloomberg Asean Business Summit. We are having a very tough time dealing with damages in the finances as well as the crimes that were committed.
Talks between OPEC and its allies next month about whether to extend their pact on cutting oil supplies "won't be easy" and may be complicated by the situation facing Iran and Venezuela, Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other large oil producers, including Russia and Kazakhstan, meet in Vienna on July 1-2 to discuss whether the oil output deal, which expires after June 30, should be continued. "I think it won't be easy," Bozumbayev told reporters about the talks, in comments cleared for publication on Monday, citing "different positions" among parties to the deal.
A US citizen was sentenced Monday to 12 years in Vietnamese prison for "attempting to overthrow the state", a lawyer and state media said, as the one-party country squeezes dissent. Vietnamese-American Michael Nguyen was detained in July last year while travelling in the country with two activists, who were also arrested. The trio were accused of setting up a group to prepare armed protest and the occupation of official "headquarters" in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, according to state-run news site VnExpress.
Conditions in Texas migrant detention centres are the “worst I've ever seen”, a Republican from the state has admitted, after reports from lawyers suggested children were enduring lice infestations, flu infections and nights sleeping on cold concrete floors. Representative Michael McCaul added that “at a minimum”, Congress should create a humanitarian aid package for young people being held near the US-Mexico border. He blamed a lack of action by politicians for the filthy conditions.
Five underwater pipelines have been damaged and put out of order after a sabotage attack off the coastal town of Banias, Syria's oil ministry said Sunday. The damage was discovered after divers checked to see what was behind an oil leakage, the ministry said. The ministry gave no further details about the attack saying that the damage will be fixed within hours, by its experts.

The construction strategy for the Orca and other drones is to engineer a new “upgradeable,” multi-mission drone able to quickly integrate new technology and payloads as they emerge. The Navy is planning to launch a massive, 50-ton undersea drone to expand mission scope, increase attack options, integrate large high-tech sensors, further safeguard manned combat crews and possibly fire torpedoes -- all while waging war under the ocean surface. The 50-ton Orca, which would not fit in a submarine launch tube, brings an unprecedented sensing, endurance and attack advantage.
Days ago, a 55-year-old Canadian man and his wife had to be airlifted from Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas cruise ship because the man was suffering from abdominal pain. It's far from the only time an emergency struck on one of these excursions. From 250 passengers with norovirus symptoms to Coast Guard assists, here are just a handful of mishaps and rescues at sea from the past year on popular cruise ships.
Despite calling off a military strike against Iran, the U.S. is still poised to hit Iran hard after weeks of mounting tensions between the two countries, President Trump said on Sunday, in what appeared to be a coordinated effort by the administration to keep the pressure on Tehran. Trump in an interview with NBC's “Meet the Press” said he is “not looking for war” with Iran, but warned of "obliteration like you've never seen before” if Iran resumes its efforts to build nuclear weapons. Vice President Mike Pence told Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” that “Iran should not mistake restraint for a lack of resolve.
American logistics giant FedEx sued the US government on Monday, saying Washington's restrictions on exports and imports due to growing trade disputes and sanctions created an "impossible burden" for delivery firms. The announcement of the lawsuit comes as Beijing and Washington face off in a trade war that has seen both sides exchange steep tariffs on hundreds of billions in exports. The US has also sought to bar Chinese telecom giant Huawei from the American market and limit its ability to purchase US technology.
The deal comes more than three months after Caesars agreed to give billionaire investor Carl Icahn three board seats to his representatives and a say on the selection of its next chief executive officer. Shares of Caesars, up 47% this year, rose 11.4% to $14.51 at mid-afternoon, while Eldorado's stock, which has increased 41.4% year to date, fell 13.2% to $44.45. Eldorado has made a series of acquisitions over the past few years including a $1.85 billion deal for Icahn-backed Tropicana Entertainment in 2018 and a $1.7 billion deal for Isle of Capri Casinos in 2017, strengthening its free cash flow and earnings per share.
Sen. Bernie Sanders on Monday proposed eliminating all of the nearly $1.6 trillion in outstanding student loan debt owed by Americans, raising the stakes on an issue that has increasingly animated the progressive base of the Democratic party. Sanders is the latest 2020 presidential contender to propose a one-time cancellation program that would forgive large portions of student loan debt, which is owed by some 45 million Americans. Sanders' call for completely eliminating existing student loan debt is sure to rekindle divisions among progressives and Democratic primary voters more broadly over whether sweeping new government benefits should be available to all — or targeted to low- and middle-income families.

Authorities say a missing University of Utah student who hasn't been heard from in over a week was last seen meeting an unknown person at a park in the middle of the night. Salt Lake City assistant Police Chief Tim Doubt said Monday at a news conference that the Lyft driver who dropped off 23-year-old MacKenzie Lueck says she didn't seem in distress when she met the person on June 17 at about 3 a.m. Doubt declined to describe the person's gender and says they don't know who it is. Police and friends are investigating the disappearance of a University of Utah student who hasn't been heard from since she flew back to Salt Lake City last Monday after visiting family in El Segundo, California.
