In her campaign video, Gideon criticizes Collins's vote to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court as a threat to abortion rights. In October, Collins defended the judge against allegations of sexual misconduct in a 30-minute speech on the Senate floor. Susan Collins's vote to put Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court may be paying off for her, but it's put women's control over their own health care decisions in extreme jeopardy,” Gideon says in the video.
Britain does not expect the United States to request that the United Kingdom joins a war with Iran and London would be unlikely to agree to join such a conflict, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said on Tuesday. "The U.S. is our closest ally, we talk to them the whole time, we consider any requests that they say carefully, but I cannot envisage any situation where they request or we agree to any moves to go to war," Hunt told parliament. The message we are sending with our partners in the European Union particularly the French and the Germans is that with respect to Iran's nuclear programme, this is a crucial week.
In what amounted to a face-off at the U.N's top human rights body, Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil insisted that special rapporteur Agnes Callamard had failed to follow proper procedures and used flawed sourcing in her 101-page report made public last week. "Accusations have been launched, and fingers have been pointed — (she is) supporting herself on non-credible articles or sources," he told the Human Rights Council, in Arabic through a U.N. interpreter. The report by Callamard, an independent expert on extrajudicial and arbitrary killings, alleged that Saudi Arabia bears responsibility for The Washington Post columnist's grisly apparent dismemberment by Saudi agents at the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul in October.
American logistics giant FedEx sued the US government on Monday, saying Washington's restrictions on exports and imports due to growing trade disputes and sanctions created an "impossible burden" for delivery firms. The US has also sought to bar Chinese telecom giant Huawei from the American market and limit its ability to purchase US technology. A statement by the delivery firm said the restrictions placed "an unreasonable burden on FedEx to police the millions of shipments that transit our network every day" or face heavy fines.
It appears that the 2021 Ford Bronco will be powered by the turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four currently in use in the Ford Ranger. The listing was discovered in a parts-lookup configurator at Canadian Tire and was first reported by Off-Road.com. Aside from a few nonspecific leaks and a handful of camouflaged spy photos, Ford has done a commendable job of keeping a lid on the precise details pertaining to the new Ford Bronco.

The recent oil tanker attacks in the Gulf of Oman reinforce the need to reestablish a highly visible U.S. naval deterrent in the Middle East. For eight months last year, no aircraft carrier strike group plied the region, the longest such interruption this millennium. With the United States needing a more robust posture against Iran and confronting renewed challenges in Asia and Europe, several immediate measures and concerted longer-term efforts are critical to ensure America has the carriers it needs.

A University of Utah student missing for over a week was last seen meeting an unknown person at a park at 3 in the morning, authorities said Monday. The Lyft driver who took Mackenzie Lueck from the airport and dropped her off at a park in a Salt Lake City suburb on June 17 told detectives the woman didn't seem in any distress when she met the person, said Salt Lake City assistant police chief Tim Doubt. The chief declined to say if she met a man or a woman and said detectives are trying to find the person.
The United Arab Emirates appeared to distance itself from U.S. claims that pinned attacks on oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz on Iran. Honestly we can't point the blame at any country because we don't have evidence,” Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said on Wednesday in Moscow. If there is a country that has the evidence, then I'm convinced that the international community will listen to it.
The U.S. Senate on Wednesday rejected a bill approved a day earlier by the House of Representatives that would have provided $4.5 billion to address a surge in migration at the U.S. border with Mexico, while setting new standards for the care of migrants taken into custody. Last month, President Donald Trump requested aid for programs to house, feed, transport and oversee a surge of Central American migrants seeking asylum in the United States. White House officials had said the bill would hamper the Trump administration's border enforcement efforts.
There will be several high-profile flagship smartphone launches between now and early September, but Apple's upcoming new iPhone 11 is already stealing the spotlight. In much the same way that the iPhone 7 was really the “iPhone 6ss” since it used the exact same design but spiced things up with exciting new features, the iPhone 11 is shaping up to be an “iPhone Xss.” It'll sport the same overall design with a few minor tweaks and a massive new camera bump on the back.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Panama-Costa Rica border around midnight on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said, with the potential to cause casualties and "significant damage". The shallow quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), about two kilometers from the nearest town of Progreso in Panama, USGS said. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, but US seismologists said the disaster was "potentially widespread," with the USGS website pointing out that "past events with this alert level have required a regional or national level response."
On Tuesday, NATO urged Russia to destroy a new missile to save a treaty that keeps land-based nuclear warheads out of Europe or face a more determined alliance response in the region.

The skydiving plane that crashed this weekend in Hawaii, killing all 11 on board, was also involved in a frightening midair incident in Northern California three years before. Federal investigators are trying to determine why the twin-engine turboprop plane went down shortly after takeoff Friday, leaving a smoky pile of wreckage near the fence surrounding Dillingham Airfield northwest of Honolulu in the worst civil aviation accident in the U.S. since 2011. National Transportation Safety Board records show that same aircraft, built in 1967, stalled three times and spun another three during a 2016 skydiving flight in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area, forcing 14 skydivers to jump to safety.
Boris Johnson failed to shut down questions about his private life Tuesday as a round of media appearances served only to bog him down further in questions about character and trust. Johnson, who is running to be the next leader for both the Conservative Party and the nation, has refused to address personal questions despite an ongoing clamor to face public scrutiny after a reported quarrel with his girlfriend last week prompted a police visit. In break from his previous strategy, the front-runner took part in three interviews in less than 24 hours, responding to challenger Jeremy Hunt's criticism that he was a "coward" and needed to face greater public scrutiny if he is to become prime minister.
