A number of conservative figures mocked Ocasio-Cortez over the misspeak, noting that there are three “branches” rather than chambers, which are the legislative, executive and judiciary. You have got to be kidding me.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor has told CNN that Justice Brett Kavanaugh has been welcomed into the Supreme Court “family.” “When you’re charged with working together for most of the remainder of your life, you have to create a relationship,” she said. “The
Brenda Snipes, the supervisor of elections for Broward County, Florida, reportedly submitted her resignation on Sunday after a tumultuous two-week recount effort following this month’s midterms. Snipes, 75, has overseen the region’s elections since she was appointed by former Gov. Jeb Bush (R) in 2003. Two races in Florida were too close to call: the bid for the state’s governorship and for Sen. Bill Nelson’s (D) seat in Congress.
“Drinking the Kool-Aid” is a phrase bandied about regularly in corporate life, especially when someone wants to take a dig at people with a cult-like belief in a business philosophy or those who fanatically follow a misguided leader.Nov. 18 marked the
Crushed from an implosion, the submarine was located at a depth of more than 900 meters (3,000 feet) in a desolate area of undersea craters and canyons 400 kilometers (250 miles) off the coast of Argentina. An underwater robot sent down by the Seabed Constructor, which specializes in ultra-deep water exploration, relayed 67,000 images of the sunken vessel.
Search teams have stepped up efforts to find the almost 1,300 people still believed missing amid the deadliest fire in California's history, with rain expected to hit the area in the next few days. While the rain will help with the Camp Fire, it could also turn parts of the blaze zone - where at least 76 bodies have been discovered so far - into a mass of mud that could hinder efforts to find remains. Meteorologists have “very high confidence” that Butte County will get 10-13cm of rain from Tuesday night through to the weekend.
“The OPEC community has understood the difficulties we face –- Libya has withheld more than any other country from the global market,” National Oil Corp. Chairman Mustafa Sanalla wrote in a phone message. OPEC and its allies are considering cutting oil output in 2019 as the group is increasingly concerned about the potential for oversupply. Libya, along with Nigeria, has been exempt from cuts since January 2017 due to domestic conflict.

A proposed U.N. resolution urges Yemen's warring parties to relaunch negotiations to end the three-year conflict and take urgent steps to tackle the world's worst humanitarian crisis, which has pushed the country to the brink of famine. The British-drafted resolution was circulated to Security Council members Monday and obtained by The Associated Press. It calls on Yemen's internationally recognized government and the Houthi rebels to agree to a cease-fire around the key port of Hodeida.
As of Monday morning, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office listed 991 names on its missing persons list, but authorities said it’s unlikely the death toll will reach that high. It will fluctuate both up and down, every day,” Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea told reporters on Sunday, when the number of missing persons on the list dropped by more than 200.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are often synonymous with TV sales, promotions on laptop deals, cheap Instant Pots and discounts on Apple Watches, but more and more retailers are stepping into the frenzy of deals and steals across the internet to capitalize on shoppers’ eagerness to spend and save. “Travel Deal Tuesday” is being tagged as the best day of the year for travel deals, based on an analysis run by airfare booking app Hopper.
Any other standard risks contributing to an already-toxic political environment that is leaving all too many voters paranoid and susceptible to believing unverified and inflammatory conspiracy theories. Applying this standard, it’s past time for Democrats to dial back their rhetoric about the Georgia gubernatorial election. It was reckless for Hillary Clinton to declare that “if [Stacey Abrams] had a fair election, she already would have won.” It was absurd for both Cory Booker and Sherrod Brown to say the election was “stolen.” Indeed, this claim is rapidly becoming conventional wisdom in parts of the Left.
President Donald Trump vowed to make the Earth’s climate great again as he toured the destruction caused by the deadliest wildfire in California’s history. After witnessing the devastation inflicted on the community of Paradise, Trump on Saturday was
Joe Biden just welcomed a majorly cute addition to his family — a German shepherd named Major. On Saturday, the former Vice President and his wife Jill officially adopted Major the rescue dog, who they've been fostering, from the Delaware Humane Association in Wilmington, Delaware. “We are so happy to welcome Major to the Biden family, and we are grateful to the Delaware Humane Association for their work in finding forever homes for Major and countless other animals," the Bidens said in a statement that the shelter shared to Facebook.
About 4,000 residents fled Guatemala‘s Volcano of Fire Monday as red-hot rock and ash spewed into the sky and cascaded down the slopes towards an area devastated by a deadly eruption earlier this year. Guatemala’s volcanology unit said that explosions from the 12,300-foot (3,763-metre) high mountain shook homes with “constant sounds similar to a train locomotive”. Hot blasts of pyroclastic material pushed down canyons on the slopes, while a column of ash rose nearly 23,000 feet (7,000 metres) above sea level and drifted towards Guatemala City to the east.
The launch of an Apple store on the Champs Elysees in Paris was greeted Sunday by a protest against the US multinational's controversial fiscal practices. The group had staged a sit-in at Apple's flagship Paris store in December 2017, and in February a French court declined to approve a ban on such actions following a request by the US computer giant. "We have come to celebrate in our own way the inauguration of Apple's Champs Elysees store, to remind people that Apple is one of the biggest tax evaders in the world," Attac spokeswoman Aurelie Trouve told AFP at the protest, which featured a brass band.
Israel's prime minister says he will also take over as defense minister and is rejecting calls to hold early elections. Netanyahu announced on national TV Sunday that he would take over the defense post following the resignation of Avigdor Lieberman. Lieberman's resignation has left Netanyahu with a narrow majority in parliament, and his remaining partners have demanded he hold early elections.
Volunteers in white coveralls, hard hats and masks poked through ash and debris Sunday, searching for the remains of victims of the devastating Northern California wildfire before rains forecast this week complicate their efforts. A team of 10 volunteers went from burned house to burned house Sunday in the devastated town of Paradise, accompanied by a cadaver dog with a bell on its collar that jingled in the grim landscape. Robert Panak, a volunteer on a different team from Napa County, spent the morning searching homes, but didn’t find any remains.
Florida is suing the nation’s two largest drugstore chains, Walgreens and CVS, alleging they added to the state and national opioid crisis by overselling painkillers and not taking precautions to stop illegal sales. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced late Friday that she has added the companies to a state-court lawsuit filed last spring against Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin, and several opioid distributors. Bondi said in a press release that CVS and Walgreens “played a role in creating the opioid crisis.” She said the companies failed to stop “suspicious orders of opioids” and “dispensed unreasonable quantities of opioids from their pharmacies.” On average, about 45 people die nationally each day because of opioid overdoses, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Home-renting company Airbnb Inc said on Monday that it would remove listings in Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, enclaves that most world powers consider illegal for taking up land where Palestinians seek statehood. "We concluded that we should remove listings in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank that are at the core of the dispute between Israelis and Palestinians," a statement on the Airbnb website said. An Airbnb spokesman said the decision, affecting some 200 listings, would take effect in the days ahead.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he does not want to listen to an audio recording of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi despite facing mounting pressure to punish Saudi Arabia for the killing. Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2, and Turkey has given the U.S. government a recording of the murder, but Trump said he would not listen to it "because it’s a suffering tape, it’s a terrible tape." "I don’t want to hear the tape, no reason for me to hear the tape," Trump said in an interview with "Fox News Sunday." "I know everything that went on in the tape without having to hear it ... It was very violent, very vicious and terrible." Trump also said he wants to maintain a close alliance with Saudi Arabia despite Khashoggi's death and questioned the alleged role of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is known as MbS and is the kingdom's de facto ruler.

Of the many highlights found in the new-for-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, from the bold new styling to its cleverly optimized cargo box to a factory-lifted off-road variant, the addition of an available four-cylinder engine-a first for a modern full-size pickup-is certainly the most controversial. The engine in question is General Motors' new turbocharged DOHC 2.7-liter inline-four, dubbed L3B, which comes as the standard powertrain on mid-level Silverado LT and RST models, as well as on SLE and Elevation versions of the equally new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The boosted 2.7 produces a solid 310 horsepower at 5600 rpm, but it's the beefy 348 lb-ft of torque stretching from 1500 to 4000 revs that really matters-that's 43 lb-ft more, at far lower rpm, than is available from the base 285-hp 4.3-liter V-6 found in lesser Silverados, and only 35 lb-ft less than the 355-hp 5.3-liter small-block V-8 (a $1395 option on both the LT and RST.) It mates solely to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and GM says the setup allows 2.7T-equipped Silverados to tow up to 7200 pounds and scoot to 60 mph in less than 7.0 seconds.
