This combined presence, experts say, would serve 85 million households, accounting for approximately 13% of the market. The merger comes just years after Albertsons bought out Safeway for $9 billion in 2014—a deal which, despite FTC intervention, ended up driving down competition for the chain.

Under New York law, prosecutors with the Manhattan district attorney's office must prove that Weisselberg committed his many felonies “in behalf of” the Trump Organization, a clunky phrase that the judge overseeing the case has, in something of an understatement, called “a confusing area of the law. Ordinarily, when a company's financial whiz becomes a star witness against it, things are not looking great. But if the Trump Organization has any hope of an acquittal or a hung jury after weeks of embarrassing revelations, it rests on this phrase, which has set off fierce semantic debate.
Brittney Griner could spend her life in prison We all know Griner's predicament could end tomorrow with a U.S.-Russian prisoner swap. But what few are saying and must know is that it might never end, that Brittney Griner is caught in the awakening gears of a changing world and could conceivably spend the rest of her life in captivity. Even before the Russians seized upon her as a bargaining chip exactly one week before its Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine, people were writing and speaking about what she is facing.

Multiple people have corroborated parts of Reade's story since she first spoke out on March 25, 2020, but Biden and his campaign vehemently denied the claims.
