The manager of a Georgia gas station is accused of sexually assaulting a police officer who was on duty and in uniform. According to the Hogansville Police Department, Prilesh Navinchandra Thakkar “attempted to forcefully commit an indecent act on an on duty female police officer.” The officer was conducting a business check on May 11 at the Hop In service station along state Highway 54 when the 300-pound manager grabbed her and pulled her behind the counter, WAGA reported.

Former President Donald Trump and Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives said on Monday they are near an agreement to resolve disputes concerning congressional subpoenas of his financial records from Deutsche Bank AG. In a filing in federal court in Manhattan, lawyers for Trump and the Democrats said they believed they were "close to an agreement" in talks concerning the scope of the subpoenas and a process for resolving privacy concerns. South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster signed a bill into law Friday officially bringing back the electric chair and introducing the firing squad to perform executions of death row inmates. McMaster signed the bill into law two days after the Senate voted to agree on small changes the House made to the legislation. The bill's author, Sen. Bob Hall, R-Edgewood, revived SB 1311 on Friday, placing it on the Senate calendar one day after a House voting deadline killed a similar measure in the lower chamber.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a toddler was found murdered in a Dallas street on Saturday morning, police said. Police have arrested 18-year-old Darriynn Brown in connection with the murder. Albert Martinez, the executive assistant police chief, told reporters the death appeared to be a “violent” one and that an “edged weapon” was probably used to kill the toddler.
