A recount began Saturday in the U.S. Senate race between Scott, a Republican, and Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson. Scott narrowly leads Nelson by about 0.15 percentage points, well within the state’s 0.25 percent threshold for a manual recount.

Now you can get Tide detergent delivered right to your doorstep in a shoe box. In an effort to keep up with the growing demand for online deliveries, Tide’s parent company Procter & Gamble has launched the “Tide Eco-Box,” an eco-friendly container complete with a twist-to-open detergent valve, pull-out stand and measuring cup. Shipping the Tide Eco-Box even uses 60% less plastic than delivering an equivalent 150-ounce bottle of Tide, according to CNN, which means customers who purchase the new box can join the effort to save the environment by simply doing their laundry.
The three wildfires raging on both ends of California have exacted a staggering toll. Dozens of lives have been lost, tens of thousands have been displaced and entire neighborhoods — and at least one entire Northern California town — have been incinerated. High winds and critically dry conditions threaten to unleash more fires in parts of Southern California in the coming days and weeks, fire officials told The Associated Press.
Saudi Arabia, the world's top crude exporter, said Sunday it will cut oil output from next month, as major producers held a key meeting to discuss shoring up sliding prices. Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih announced the kingdom was cutting its supplies by 500,000 barrels per day from December. Oil prices have shed a fifth of their value in just one month after surging to a four-year high in early October, driven by a combination of factors centred on higher supply and fears of sluggish demand.
Pabst Brewing Company and MillerCoors are going to trial, with hipster favorite Pabst contending that MillerCoors wants to put it out of business by ending a longstanding partnership through which it brews Pabst's beers. The case has high stakes for Pabst, whose lawyers argue that the company's very existence relies on the partnership with Chicago-based MillerCoors, which produces, packages and ships nearly all its products, which include Pabst Blue Ribbon, Old Milwaukee, Natty Boh and Lone Star. MillerCoors, meanwhile, says it's not obligated to continue brewing for Pabst and that Pabst doesn't want to pay enough to justify doing so.
Ancient Egyptians seem to have been "cat people," or at least cat mummy people. Researchers have dug up several mummified cats alongside about 100 wooden cat statues in a tomb complex near a pyramid built for the pharaoh Userkaf, who reigned from 2291 B.C. to 2289 B.C., the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities announced Nov. 10. The burials are located near the site of Saqqara in Egypt.
Regardless of whether Nancy Pelosi becomes the next speaker of the US House of Representatives, one thing has become immediately clear in the wake of the 2018 midterms: the Democratic Party is ready to provide a check on Donald Trump. The California Democrat told Face the Nation that she is prepared to hold the president and his administration accountable, while conducting oversight “with the cool, strategic mindset that has been missing for too long". Democrats are facing questions from reporters on Capitol Hill since the election about whether they will support the House minority leader to become the next speaker, or if they’d vote for any one of the rising stars within the party who have taken further left-of-centre stances on a range of issues.

Two deadly wildfires fueled by "devil winds" tore through opposite ends of California on Sunday, with residents urged to heed evacuation orders by officials forced to leave their own homes. In northern California, the Camp Fire is one of the deadliest and most destructive in the state's history, killing at least 23 since it broke out on Thursday northeast of Sacramento and consumed much of the mountain town of Paradise. Hundreds of miles to the south, at least two people died in the Woolsey conflagration threatening the wealthy beach community of Malibu, near Los Angeles.
A judge on Monday denied Florida Republican Senate nominee Rick Scott’s request that voting equipment in Broward County be impounded for security when not in use, proposing instead that three armed deputies be assigned to increase security at Broward election headquarters. During an emergency hearing in the lawsuit brought Sunday by Scott’s campaign, his lawyers asked Judge Jack Tuter to impound ballots and machines in Broward County, citing concerns about Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes’s handling of the count, given her past convictions for violating elections law and her office’s failures to report vote counts since last Tuesday’s election. Take away the concerns of the citizens, take away the concerns of the public that this election process will be protected,” said Scott attorney Jason Zimmerman.
