The New York congresswoman became embroiled in a Twitter spat with Ted Cruz and blasted the senate for taking a Thanksgiving break with no deal in place. You know in the House, when we don't have the votes to pass something, we work on the bill until we pick up the votes to pass it.
Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam lauded the city's new national security law on Wednesday as “remarkably effective in restoring stability,” despite criticism that it is severely narrowing the space for free speech and political opposition in the semi-autonomous Chinese territory. Lam said in her annual policy address that the law had prevented a return of political unrest and that bringing normalcy back to the political system is an urgent priority. Beijing imposed the security law on Hong Kong in June, aiming to crack down on dissent following months of anti-government protests in the city that at times descended into violence.

"By design, they seem meant to project a dutiful competence," The Washington Post reports. Biden has also chosen some boldface names: John Kerry as international climate envoy and former Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen as treasury secretary.

U.S. officials announced federal charges on Tuesday against three Mexican nationals "suspected of trafficking huge quantities of illicit drugs for the Sinaloa Cartel" into southern California. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California Robert Brewer called the arrests, along with the seizure of $3.5 million in cash and a significant haul of cocaine, fentanyl and large-caliber ammunition, a success in efforts to "eradicate this threat to San Diego and our partners in the Republic of Mexico." DEA Special Agent in Charge John W. President Trump's daughter and son-in-law have never fit in, several people told the Times, but it's not a sure bet that they will return to New York City. Donny Deutsch, a marketing expert and critic of the president, said he thinks Ivanka and Jared would have an "even harder time than Trump himself" moving back to Manhattan.

She described the experience as “an almost unbearable grief experienced by many but talked about by few”. She noted that despite the “staggering commonality of this pain”, the subject remains taboo, “riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning. Footage of Azerbaijani drones attacking Armenia forces during earlier this year showed the small, relatively cheap munitions wreaking havoc on tanks and armored vehicles. The brief but destructive conflict has reinvigorated debate about whether tanks, which have long been the most dominant ground weapon the battlefield, will still be viable in a clash between modern, technologically advanced militaries. On November 9, an armistice brokered by Russia and signed by the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan ended a six-week conflict that killed some 5,000 people.
