President Trump demanded on Monday that the election winner be announced on Election Day, Nov. 3 — something his own party has made highly unlikely by fighting to keep ballots from being counted quickly in key swing states. Trump claimed that the presidential contest “must have final total on November 3rd” in a Monday-evening tweet in which he also once again made baseless claims about “big problems and discrepancies” with mail-in voting. He made similar comments to reporters on Tuesday, making the incorrect claim that it's “inappropriate” to count ballots after Election Day.

The Supreme Court sided with Republicans in Wisconsin on Monday, ruling 5-3 along ideological lines that Wisconsin can count only those absentee ballots that arrive by Election Day — even if they were mailed days earlier. Since first-class mail has been taking an average of 10 days to be delivered in the state, Wisconsin's Democratic Party urged mail-in Democrats to hand-deliver their absentee ballots or vote in person. The practical issue involves what happens with Wisconsin's 700,000 outstanding absentee ballots.

Many Republicans are reluctant to support another pandemic aid bill, citing the growing federal debt.

Republican Rep. Doug Collins' Senate campaign ads have attracted scrutiny for featuring images of himself wearing the US Air Force uniform — particularly in the absence of any disclaimers. At least a dozen images and videos of Collins wearing different variations of the Air Force uniform have appeared on his campaign's social media accounts in recent weeks. President Trump and congressional Republicans could be headed to a stinging, possibly historic defeat on November 3. With the president down nearly 10 points in national polling averages and looking up at Democratic nominee Joe Biden in every critical battleground state, five incumbent Republican senators trailing their Democratic challengers, another handful tied or barely ahead, and Republicans likely to lose at least a few seats in the House, too, it looks as though the verdict voters hand down about the last four years of our history will be sharp and, by the standards of our polarized, partisan era, incontrovertible.

It is the flip-flop of the century, undertaken by the Republicans for one reason: Barrett's confirmation ensures a conservative majority on the high court for the foreseeable future. Perhaps it will persuade them to reject the radical and hypocritical Senate Republicans at the polls. Barrett's confirmation, after all, is only one of many irresponsible moves by the Senate majority, led by the craven Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), who long ago threw his lot in with President Trump.

“One common trait: at this stage of the game, the undecided voter doesn’t fit into an easy political profile.”
“More realistically...these voters may not be motivated to vote at all in the 2020 election.”
