State Sen. Lauren Book often has told the story about how she was sexually abused by her nanny for six years when she was a child. She channeled the pain into a lifetime of helping other abuse survivors. Now after years of working hard to heal herself and restore her life — running a non-profit to help victims, getting married, having children and winning her Senate seat — Book has been victimized again, this time by someone trying to extort her by threatening to reveal nude photos that were stolen from her.
Eric Trump tried to brag about how hard his father, Donald Trump, worked when he was in office, but given the former president's famously light schedule, it didn't go well. Axios obtained Donald Trump's schedule at several points during his administration. Axios reported that in 2018, “executive time” often meant Trump was “in his residence, watching TV, making phone calls and tweeting” and that his typical day didn't begin until 11 a.m., soon after which he took an hourlong lunch.
A tip from Crime Stoppers led a Texas sheriff's office to an assortment of drugs and an alligator the length of a toddler in one man's home. A search warrant resulted in officers finding a number of controlled substances, including magic mushrooms, PCP, THC edibles and vape cartridges, and 1 pound of marijuana, the post said.

Russia warned Wednesday it would quickly take “retaliatory measures” if the U.S. and its allies reject its security demands and continue their “aggressive” policies, ratcheting up pressure on the West amid concerns that Moscow is planning to invade Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly denied it has any such designs, but the United States and its NATO allies are worried because Russia has massed an estimated 100,000 troops near Ukraine's border and launched a series of war games in the region.

So grateful were Ukrainians for British military aid arriving last week that "God Save the Queen" was trending on Twitter, while one winery in western Ukraine offered free drinks to British nationals. But Ukrainians, facing what they fear is a threat of a Russian invasion, are showing less faith in support from a nearer and bigger friend - Germany, where a new coalition government has given signals that are decidedly mixed. Berlin has refused to sell weapons to Ukraine and has pushed to open a new pipeline for Russian gas that would circumvent Ukraine and deprive it of sorely needed transit fees.

In Comachuen, a Purepecha Indigenous community of about 10,000 inhabitants nestled high in the pine-clad mountains of the western state of Michoacan, the whole town survives because of the money sent home by migrants working in the United States. The money has allowed their families to remain in Comachuen rather than moving to other parts of Mexico for work. The traditional textiles, woodworking and construction live on, largely because such enterprises are funded by migrants who send money home to build houses here.
Just as the Omicron wave may have broken across the U.S. comes word of another version of the more transmissible variant, dubbed BA.2. It's been nicknamed by some “stealth Omicron” because it seems to evade identification better than its predecessor. While other new variants that seemed worrisome — like Mu or Lambda — have had little impact, and details remain sketchy, early indications are that BA.2 seems to be spreading even in countries where the original Omicron lineage, BA.1, is dominant.
Marriage, of course, is a financial contract and beholden to the laws of the state — in the absence of a prenup. Tennessee is an equitable-distribution state, so if you were to get hitched, your marital assets would be distributed fairly and equitably (rather than equally). Tennessee does not recognize common-law marriage, but cohabitation agreements are enforceable there.
"Mucus, along with the respiratory tract and the upper digestive tract, act in many ways as the lubrication, filter and protection for our bodies," he tells Yahoo Life. Also known as phlegm, mucus is made up of mostly water, but it also contains "remnants of skin-lining cells (epithelial cells), antimicrobial enzymes, proteins and inorganic salts," explains Nasseri. "It is produced by your mucous membranes and coats your mouth, nose, sinuses, throat, lungs and gastrointestinal tract."

Fox News' Sean Hannity was taken to task on his own show by Geraldo Rivera for airing an attack ad accusing President Joe Biden of cognitive decline. Hannity parroted the right-wing talking point that Biden is mentally unfit for office by comparing footage of the president's speeches over the years with a new spot released by the Republican National Committee that highlighted his pauses during a last week's marathon news conference. “I think the montage you put together of the 46th president was deeply insulting and highly political,” Rivera, a veteran pundit on the conservative network, told Hannity on Tuesday.

The monkey is called the Popa langur, for it lives on the steep hillsides of the extinct Mt. Popa volcano in Myanmar.

The NAACP tweeted archly, “Senator McConnell, what is the difference between African Americans and Americans? On Friday, McConnell pushed back, claiming he meant to say “all Americans” and dubbing the criticism “deeply offensive,” which you'd say, too, if your mouth ratted you out while your brain was off duty. But if you think McConnell is the only one who needs to be reminded that, as Black poet Langston Hughes once put it, “I, too, sing America,” you haven't been paying attention.
A rare species of eagle that has thrilled bird lovers and baffled scientists since arriving in Maine last month might not be in a hurry to leave. It has stuck to Maine's middle coast, eating fish and ducks and attracting hundreds of birdwatchers from all over the world. The bird is far off course, and it's still unclear why it came here at all, said Doug Hitchcox, staff naturalist at Maine Audubon.
Here is the full list of the Top 20 emerging housing markets, according to the index: International travel demand is set to surge The list's make-up reflects heightened expectations for travel demand as COVID-19 lessens as a concern with more people getting their vaccines globally. Andrzej Sitkowski was 15 years old when his mother told him that she had been asked by a neighbor to hide a little Jewish girl from the Nazis at their home. “It was a short conversation, and then, yes, we decided to take in Hadassah and she was brought over to our house in 1943,” Sitkowski says, looking back at those difficult years during World War II when he lived with his widowed mother Helena and younger sister Magda on the outskirts of the Polish capital of Warsaw under German occupation. “Of course, we were afraid, but fear was our daily dish during those years anyway,” Sitkowski told The Associated Press at his home in the Bavarian village of Durach where he settled 10 years ago with his German wife.

“People (myself included) like cooking with gas! It’s one of the few energy uses that inspires brand loyalty to the fuel consumed.”
“It’s time to start making new buildings all-electric and switching out all those existing gas appliances, including gas stoves.”
“If you're looking for personal ways to protect the environment and your health right now, you have much bigger fish to fry.”
