Weisselberg to plead guilty in Trump tax case: report

The Trump Organization's chief financial officer is coming close to reaching a plea deal in a case investigating whether he funneled off-the-books income to himself and other executives at the company, but the potential deal reportedly does not bring prosecutors any closer to their main target: former President Trump. The New York Times reported Monday, citing two people with knowledge, that Allen Weisselberg and his lawyers met with a judge and that a hearing is scheduled on Thursday in the case, pointing to a possible agreement being reached by then. A potential deal might mean Weisselberg faces a far shorter sentence of five months in prison, a person familiar with the matter told the Times.

A quarter of the U.S. will fall inside an extreme heat belt. Here are the states in the red zone.

Extreme heat belt' According to First Street, the most severe shift in local temperatures is found in Miami-Dade county in Florida where the seven hottest days, currently at 103°F, will increase to 34 days at that same temperature by 2053. Increasing temperatures are broadly discussed in yearly averages, but the focus should be on the extension of the extreme tail events expected in a given year,” said Matthew Eby, founder and CEO of First Street Foundation. We need to be prepared for the inevitable, that a quarter of the country will soon fall inside the extreme heat belt with temperatures exceeding 125°F and the results will be dire.

A sheriff's deputy held onto Kobe Bryant crash site photos for 4 days and said that he and his colleagues shared photos because 'curiosity got the best of us'

A Federal courtroom in downtown Los Angeles got an inside look as to why one Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy waited four days to delete gruesome crash site photos from the helicopter crash that killed Kobe, Gianna Bryant, and nine others. In that time, the up-close photos would be shared with at least five other law enforcement officers, one of whom admitted to sharing the photos at a bar. Several LA sheriff's deputies who had a hand in the dissemination of the photos took the stand on Monday, as part of Vanessa Bryant's ongoing trial against LA County first responders who took and shared photos of the human remains from the crash that killed her husband, daughter and 7 others.

Taiwan accuses China of exaggeration with islands footage

TAIPEI (Reuters) -Taiwan accused China of exaggeration on Tuesday after the Chinese military published footage of the strategically located Penghu islands, where there is a major Taiwanese air base, saying it was not true Chinese forces had come near the islands. China, which claims Taiwan as its territory, has carried out military exercises around the island this month after a visit by U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was followed by five U.S. lawmakers on Sunday and Monday. The Chinese military unit responsible for the area adjacent to Taiwan, the People's Liberation Army's Eastern Theatre Command, released on Monday video of the Penghu islands, apparently taken by a Chinese air force aircraft.

Coutte says the advantages of sorghum are that in much of France it does not need to be irrigated, requires no pesticides and needs only a third of the fertilizer that wheat requires. It's not a miracle solution but it is a solution which, among many others, makes it possible to improve things, to consume less plant-protection products, to consume less fertilizer and above all preserve groundwater and water resources. But sorghum isn't totally immune to drought.
