Then in November, a company started by Bill Gates, TerraPower, announced it had chosen Kemmerer for a nontraditional, sodium-cooled nuclear reactor that will bring on workers from a local coal-fired power plant scheduled to close soon. The demonstration project comes as many U.S. states see nuclear emerging as an answer to fill the gap as a transition away from coal, oil and natural gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Many residents in Kemmerer, where the population of 2,700 is little-changed since the 1990s, see the TerraPower project as a much-needed economic boost because Rocky Mountain Power's Naughton power plant will close 2025.

Supporting our local police officers (and other first line responders) is something we believe in. Two years ago, we learned of Dr. Stephen Brennan's unfortunate encounter with officer Jonathan Rogers and heard what transpired for him thereafter. Dr. Brennan was a terrific pediatrician for our children, there from the get-go for all of them, from their births at York Hospital on up through their teenage years.

With the Federal Reserve now widely expected to jack up interest rates in March to beat back rampant inflation, investors in the stock market should buckle up for a more muted few months of returns, says Goldman Sachs chief U.S. equity strategist David Kostin. The S&P 500 has been "resilient" around the start of Fed hiking cycles in the past, Kostin notes. The first is that the stock market didn't fall off a cliff as borrowing conditions became tighter, but losses did come to market goers.

As political science professors specializing in conflict and violence, we find that the Taliban's changes are limited to international public relations campaigns on social media and other outlets. While promoting a moderate face to the world, with promises of living “peacefully” and respecting women's rights, the regime has continued to systematically violate human rights and strengthen its autocratic grip. Theories about what experts called “Taliban 2.0” continued after the group assumed control over Afghanistan.
Alabama coach Nick Saban and NBA legend Jerry West are among five prominent West Virginia sports figures pushing Sen. Joe Manchin (D) to support the Freedom to Vote Act. Manchin and Sen. Krysten Sinema (D-Ariz.) have refused to support making a filibuster exception for the voting rights bill. A bill can be filibustered in the Senate if it doesn't have 60 votes; if the voting rights bill was exempt from the filibuster and Manchin and Sinema voted for it, the bill would pass a 50-50 Senate by virtue of a tiebreaking vote from Vice President Kamala Harris.

Not too shabby for what is essentially an overflowing, frequently toxic swamp filling rapidly with New Yorkers.

“Air travel is a funnel point through which millions of Americans pass each week. Requiring vaccinations would save lives.”

“The only way to protect our industries, our work and our economy is to mandate vaccines on airplanes and schools, etc.”
“Of course airplanes, thanks to their ventilation systems, are the opposite of superspreader sites.”
“At the very least, Biden should extend that 24-hour testing requirement to all domestic air travel.”
