Sirisena in his address to the nation Sunday said he heard stories of possible violence in Parliament that could even result in deaths and clashes spreading around the country after Speaker Karu Jayasuriya announced he was going to call for a vote to see whether Sirisena's choice for prime minister, former strongman Mahinda Rajapaksa, commanded enough support. The crisis began Oct. 26 when Sirisena sacked Ranil Wickremesinghe as prime minister and appointed Rajapaksa in his place.

Shipping the Tide Eco-Box even uses 60% less plastic than delivering an equivalent 150-ounce bottle of Tide, according to CNN, which means customers who purchase the new box can join the effort to save the environment by simply doing their laundry.

Wildfires raging in California are among the deadliest recorded in the United States, with at least 31 people killed in the state as 250,000 flee their homes. The largest and most destructive of the blazes is the "Camp Fire" in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, which started on November 9 and has claimed 29 lives. This death toll matches the highest previously recorded for a single wildfire in the United States, when 29 people died fighting a blaze at Griffith Park in Los Angeles County in 1933.

The race to count Florida’s votes got even messier on Sunday as Gov. Rick Scott’s campaign filed a handful of lawsuits seeking to give law enforcement custody of election equipment and prevent certain ballots from being included in official results. A recount began Saturday in the U.S. Senate race between Scott, a Republican, and Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson. Scott narrowly leads Nelson by about 0.15 percentage points, well within the state’s 0.25 percent threshold for a manual recount.

A former high school coach of the gunman who killed 12 people at a Southern California bar says he was a “sadistic” teenager who joined the military so he would “kill for his country”. Evie Cluke says that years before his shooting rampage, the 28-year-old former marine was already displaying volatile and intimidating behaviour. The educator, who coached Long on Newbury Park High School's track team in 2007 and 2008, said he was a “ticking time bomb” who constantly lost his temper, threw tantrums and would scream at coaches when he didn't like their decisions.

Pabst Brewing Company and MillerCoors are going to trial, with hipster favorite Pabst contending that MillerCoors wants to put it out of business by ending a longstanding partnership through which it brews Pabst's beers. The case has high stakes for Pabst, whose lawyers argue that the company's very existence relies on the partnership with Chicago-based MillerCoors, which produces, packages and ships nearly all its products, which include Pabst Blue Ribbon, Old Milwaukee, Natty Boh and Lone Star. MillerCoors, meanwhile, says it's not obligated to continue brewing for Pabst and that Pabst doesn't want to pay enough to justify doing so.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday urged Gov. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) to recuse himself from recount procedures in Florida following midterm elections that resulted in three tight races ― including one in which Scott is a candidate.
