Six people were killed early Sunday in Georgia after police say a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into a car with five people, including three children. The crash happened just after 2 a.m. on Interstate 95 near an exit ramp in Liberty County, according to the Georgia State Police. A 77-year-old man, driving alone in a Lexus SUV, crashed head-on into another SUV while driving south in a northbound lane, GSP said in an emailed statement to USA TODAY.

A gunman opened fire at a flea market in Houston on Sunday, wounding seven people in an area known for its Hispanic community, with a suspect being taken into custody at the scene. A man and a woman have been arrested in connection to the disappearance of a 15-month-old girl from Tennessee who was last seen in December but only reported missing this week, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Friday night. Authorities said William McCloud and Angela Boswell were arrested in Wilkes County, North Carolina, about two hours southeast of Sullivan County, Tennessee, where missing toddler Evelyn Mae Boswell lived. The arrested pair were in a gray BMW that authorities said earlier they were searching for in connection to Evelyn's disappearance, NBC affiliate WCYB in Bristol, Virginia, reported.
Climate change could turn into a "catastrophic" threat to national and global security in the coming decades, warns a new report released Monday. "Even at scenarios of low warming, each region of the world will face severe risks to national and global security in the next three decades," the report states. The report, titled “A Security Threat Assessment of Global Climate Change: How Likely Warming Scenarios Indicate a Catastrophic Security Future" was released Monday by the Center for Climate and Security, a non-partisan security policy institute.
A surge in deadly coronavirus cases outside China is raising concerns that the outbreak has reached a new stage and could continue its global spread to even more vulnerable countries. As of Monday, more than 2,200 cases of the virus, officially called COVID-19, have been reported outside of mainland China, where the overwhelming majority of the 79,000 cases have been located since officials first discovered the disease in December. The number of deaths outside mainland China has also increased to 33, including 12 in Iran, eight in South Korea and four in Italy.
A man drove his Jeep off the the sixth floor of a Los Angeles-area parking garage early Sunday and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said. When officers arrived shortly after midnight, they found the destroyed vehicle up against a McDonald's restaurant across the street from the garage in Santa Monica, police said. Firefighters extricated him from the wreckage and took him to a local trauma center, where he was listed in critical condition, the Santa Monica Fire Department said.

An 11-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her brother gave birth at home, and now he and their parents are facing criminal charges. The girl gave birth to a boy in a bathtub in St. Charles, Missouri, according to a probable cause statement. Her biological brother, who is 17, was charged last week with incest, statutory rape and statutory sodomy of a person younger than 12, while her parents were charged with child endangerment.

A staggering 50 people have died in the Iranian city of Qom from the new coronavirus this month, a lawmaker was quoted as saying on Monday, even as the Health Ministry insisted only 12 deaths have been recorded nationwide. The new death toll reported by the Qom representative, Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani, is significantly higher than the 47 total cases of infections state TV had reported just hours earlier. Iran's health ministry now says total infections have risen to 61, but a spokesman said deaths remained at 12.
