Donald Trump touted the robust construction of his border fence on a visit to southern California, but risked the ire of one of his top generals by revealing the barrier would be “wired” to detect attempts to breach it. Flanked by engineers and the border patrol commissioner, the president talked up the steel-and-concrete fence's technological elements during a press conference in San Diego. He said: “They're wired, so that we will know if somebody is trying to break through.
Less than 24 hours after former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski admitted that he has “no obligation to be honest to the media” while being caught lying red-handed, CNN brought on the pugnacious Trump loyalist for an interview that predictably went sideways. Appearing on CNN's New Day on Wednesday morning, Lewandowski and anchor Alisyn Camerota spent a frustrating and headache-inducing 16 minutes going round and round over his contentious and combative testimony before the House Judiciary Committee. For instance, Camerota began the interview by asking Lewandowski about his tactic of stonewalling or just straight-up refusing to answer questions from House Democrats during his testimony, prompting the possible Senate hopeful of doing the same exact thing to her.

The 2020 United States Presidential Election is quickly approaching and hopeful candidates on all ends of the political spectrum are hoping to secure the nomination for their respective parties. As to be expected, the Democratic nominee pool is fiercely competitive with certain candidates turning out to be frontrunners. At the top of this list is Democratic Party member and 47th Vice President of the United States Joe Biden, who served as a senator from Delaware for 36 years before being elected in 2009 alongside President Barack Obama.

Al-Madioum disappeared while on a family vacation in Morocco in 2015, according to court documents detailed by the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 2017. Unbeknownst to his parents, he had secretly booked a flight to Istanbul.
To make the case for the link between terrorism and global warming, Sanders linked to a news story with a provocative headline: “Climate change will increase risk of violent conflict, researchers warn”. Dear Democrats: If you want to slow climate change, carbon pricing is a necessity. But that paper hardly offers compelling evidence that terrorism is bigger today thanks to global warming.
Mexican forensics experts have found at least 29 bodies stuffed in 119 plastic bags that were dumped in the bottom of a well outside the western city of Guadalajara, officials said Tuesday. Experts have been working to establish how many victims are in the mass grave since it was discovered earlier this month in a remote area known as La Primavera, about a 45-minute drive outside Guadalajara, Mexico's second city. "We have 13 complete corpses and 16 incomplete, for a total of 29 bodies," said Gerardo Solis, chief prosecutor for the state of Jalisco, which has been hit by a wave of violence in recent years driven by drug cartel turf wars.
Rep. Ilhan Omar accused President Trump on Wednesday of endangering her life by “continuing to spread lies” that she “partied” on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. Trump shared a since-deleted tweet on Wednesday morning that purported to show the Minnesota congresswoman dancing to hip-hop star Lizzo's hit song “Truth Hurts.” Terrence K. Williams, a conservative actor and comedian who posted the video, misled his followers by saying the footage was shot on the 18th anniversary of the attacks.
Russian border guards have detained two North Korean boats in Russian territorial waters in the Sea of Japan after one of them attacked a Russian patrol, local media cited the Federal Security Service (FSB) as saying on Tuesday. A Russian border patrol discovered two North Korean schooners and 11 motorboats fishing illegally off its far eastern coast and detained the first vessel, prompting the second one to open fire, the FSB was quoted as saying. Three Russian border guards were wounded in the incident.
Key Point: The North Vietnamese government even commemorated the event by portraying the operation on a 1964 postage stamp. It was shortly after midnight when two Viet Cong commandos emerged from a sewer tunnel that emptied into Saigon Port, each man carrying nearly 90 pounds of high explosives and the components needed to make two time bombs. Kumar declined comment on media reports that the cost per meal, mostly vegetarian, will fall to one-third of the current 500-800 rupees (up to $11) per meal.
A couple have decided to keep their baby's sex a secret from close relatives in a bid to avoid gender bias. Hobbit Humphrey, 38, and Jake England-Johns, 35, refer to their 17-month-old child, Anoush, with the pronoun, "they", and dress them in both girls' and boys' clothing. The married couple, who are members of the climate action group, Extinction Rebellion, have been accused of “virtue signalling”.
CHICAGO – Trial began Tuesday in the murder case of a 9-year-old boy who was shot and killed nearly four years ago in one of Chicago's most horrific crimes. Two purported gang members are charged with carrying out the November 2015 attack on Tyshawn Lee, a fourth-grader who prosecutors say was killed in an alley near a kid's playground to send a message to his father, an alleged member of a rival gang. The killing shocked the nation at the time and underscored the viciousness of warring factions in Chicago.
A surfer enjoying the pristine waters off Australia's east coast Sunday didn't see the large shark beneath the surface, but a nearby drone operator did. UPSOUND: SHARK, SHARK, SHARK... Using a search and rescue drone equipped with infra-red thermal imaging and a warning speaker system, amateur drone pilot Christopher Joye captured the moment the shark approached.
Some teenagers in Canada and the United States are pledging not to have children until their governments take serious steps to combat climate change. Emma Lim, an 18-year-old student at McGill University in Montreal, recently launched a climate-change movement called "#NoFutureNoChildren," in which people can pledge to hold off having children until the government takes action. "I have always, always wanted to be a mom, for as long as I can remember," Lim told Insider.
The Belgian Air Force is policing Baltic airspace as of September 3; on Tuesday, it intercepted two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack supersonic, nuclear-capable bombers. Belgium took over the Baltic policing mission from Hungary which, along with Spain and the UK, was policing Baltic airspace when Russian Su-30 Flanker fighters flew near Baltic airspace twice over two days in June. US and UK aircraft have been sending clear messages to Russia — US B-2 Spirit stealth bombers flew their first missions in the Arctic earlier in September, and the B-2s flew with non-US F-35s for the first time in August.
LOS ANGELES — When President Trump touched down in California Tuesday, local Democrats seemed to greet his arrival largely as a platform for protest, with at least a hundred demonstrators lining the road near his first event as enormous Baby Trump and Trump Chicken balloons hovered overhead. But the real reason Democrats should be paying attention to Trump's current California swing isn't because it's a prime opportunity to register their displeasure with policies on immigration, emissions and forest management. Instead, Democrats' cause for concern should be the mountains of money Trump is raising here — and, more importantly, the right-wing energy that money represents.
Coastguard sailors who opened fire on a Taiwanese fisherman in Philippine waters were convicted Wednesday of his 2013 killing, which strained ties between the historically friendly neighbours. The eight Filipino crewmen said they had shot in self-defence after the fisherman's vessel sailed directly at them in the seas just north of the main Philippine island of Luzon. A Manila court convicted the men of homicide and sentenced them to a minimum of eight years in prison, though they will be allowed to remain free while they appeal.
Key point: Iran has encountered really strange flying objects that might be an unknown, secret American spy plane. Iran is the only other country besides the United States to operate arguably history's most powerful interceptor aircraft, the F-14 Tomcat. The F-14s played a major role in Iran's war with Iraq from 1980 to 1988.
Abel Oset was seized with panic. The two were going to plead their case in a court set up inside a tent in Laredo, Texas, beamed via video conference to a judge in another city — the latest attempt to clear a massive backlog of asylum cases. Oset dreaded the very real possibility that he and his 22-year-old son would be sent back over the international bridge, back to Nuevo Laredo, in Tamaulipas, and its cartels and violence.
Moldova requested assistance from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation to bring to justice participants in a $1 billion fraud that led to a bailout of three of the nation's banks. Interior Minister Andrei Nastase said he met with senior FBI officials and handed over a letter seeking assistance. The letter “put on the FBI's agenda the theft of the billion, the laundromat of the international mafia and all the other schemes that have ruined the financial and banking system and have deprived our country of much needed resources,” he said Wednesday in a post on Facebook.
DETROIT – Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Monday that Deangelo Martin will face charges in the murders of four women on Detroit's east side. Martin, 34, of Detroit, already faces four counts of criminal sexual conduct and one count of assault with intent to murder in a separate case. The killings sparked fears in June throughout metro Detroit and a door-to-door dragnet for other victims who might have been left in abandoned homes and a killer who police said targeted women in their 50s.
