In a web exclusive shared by “The Daily Show” on Wednesday, the guy said he was “completely consumed” by the rallies, sleeping in his car for three months to attend them. It took me a long time to find myself again,” he told Klepper, “The Daily Show” correspondent who's been embedding himself among anti-vaxxers and Capitol-riot supporters. I feel like I just got out of a cult.
It started when CNN's Jeff Zeleny broke in with a question that referenced concerns many Americans hold about the competence of government, after the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal and the recent shortage of testing for COVID-19. Zeleny's question opened the floodgates. Biden took to calling on reporters at random, and what started as a very traditional presidential news conference became something else entirely, stretching to nearly two hours.

Priced out of the housing market As an overheated housing market – marked by double-digit price increases, bidding wars and inventory shortages – puts the dream of homeownership out of reach of many ordinary Americans, manufactured homes are growing in popularity because their cost is roughly half that of homes built on a permanent site. Unlike a traditional site-built house, which is constructed at its final location using multiple teams of subcontractors, a manufactured home is built in an indoor facility and delivered to its location.
Wendy Poulsen wanted “a bit of peace of mind” when she installed a tracking device inside the trunk of her 18-year-old daughter's car, but she never imagined it would ultimately help catch her daughter's killer. Poulsen's adopted daughter, Dani, was discovered dead in her car on Sept. 1, 2019 from a fentanyl overdose, according to The New York Post. While the tragic death devastated Poulsen, the data collected within the tracking device was able to lead Minnesota investigators to Dani's drug dealer, Calvonzo Burnett — a man who was also eventually held responsible for selling a lethal amount of fentanyl to another teen, Jordan Knudson, who died in December 2019.
Dutch Faro was hiking near Pyramid Lake north of Los Angeles recently when he caught movement in his peripheral vision, prompting him to turn around. When he did, he came face-to-face with a charging mountain lion. “When I turned around and really got a look at it, I could tell it was a … cougar,” Faro told the Sacramento Bee.
The widow and two sisters of a U.S. Marine killed in Afghanistan are suing Alec Baldwin, alleging the actor exposed them to a flood of social media hatred by claiming on Instagram that one sister was an “insurrectionist” for attending former President Donald Trump's Washington, D.C., rally on Jan. 6 last year. The sister, Roice McCollum, protested peacefully and legally; was not among those who stormed the U.S. Capitol that day and, after being interviewed by the FBI, “was never detained, arrested, accused of or charged with any crime,” according to the lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne. The lawsuit comes as Baldwin is immersed in an ongoing investigation into the death of a cinematographer and the wounding of a director last fall after a prop gun the actor was holding on a movie set went off.

What are the odds of catching COVID-19 after a night at the movie theater? Researchers behind the paper analyzed outbreaks and superspreader events and studied factors that hinder and aid the virus' spread, to design a mathematical model that takes many factors into account before giving a percentage risk of infection. Go into a crowded movie theater with poor ventilation and a mostly unmasked audience, and there's a 14% chance of being infected, assuming everyone in the room is silent before, during and after the movie, according to the study data.
Workers on Wednesday dismantled a towering statue of President Theodore Roosevelt from outside New York City's American Museum of Natural History. The "Equestrian Statue of Theodore Roosevelt," commissioned in 1925 and unveiled to the public in 1940, depicts Roosevelt on a horse, with a Native American man and an African man on foot at his side. The New York City Public Design Commission voted last June to remove it, the museum said on its website.

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is trending on Twitter after making an insidious comment related to voting rights, in which he implied African Americans are not Americans. After a vote to move the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to the Senate floor failed Wednesday, McConnell was asked by a reporter about concerns among voters of color. "Well the concern is misplaced, because if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans," McConnell responded.
The Navy will let Wisconsin keep its beloved badger statue for 50 more years, scrapping plans to move the sculpture to an East Coast museum. The statue, sculpted from melted-down cannons seized from Cuba during the Spanish-American War, was affixed to the first USS Wisconsin before World War I. The U.S. Naval Academy Museum lent it to the state in 1988. The academy museum contacted state officials in March 2020 asking for the statue's return so it could be lent to the nonprofit Nauticus Museum in Norfolk, Virginia, where the second USS Wisconsin is berthed as an exhibit.

However, "I did keep going to the emergency room because of really bad back pain I was having," Jimenez, who was 46 years old at the time, tells Yahoo Life. "They told me I had sciatica in my back … They didn't check me to see if I had anything below so I had no idea what was going on."
It is a recurring nightmare for many in the pandemic era — unintentionally having your computer unmuted during a remote work meeting and saying something extremely inappropriate or embarrassing. That nightmare became a reality for state Sen. Denise Harper Angel, D-Louisville, on Wednesday when she swore at her husband in an argument that was inadvertently shared with a Kentucky Senate committee on a livestream for all of the public to hear. "You made me miss roll call… because I couldn't unmute, because you were f---ing cussing," Harper Angel was heard saying in the committee meeting, drawing suppressed laughs from the committee audience and the senator testifying for his bill.
Fox News veteran Geraldo Rivera on Tuesday ripped Republican senators for turning the Senate into “The Jerry Springer Show.” The Senate “used to be 'the world's most deliberative body,'” the conservative commentator wrote on Twitter. Rivera called out the “low-brow rudeness” from GOP senators like Rand Paul (Ky.) and Roger Marshall (Kan.), who both have launched unhinged attacks on Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious diseases expert.
While memory loss could be the result of infection, depression or anxiety or other medical conditions, it may also be due to dementia. A recent study by the University of Exeter highlighted an early symptom of dementia that tends to be overlooked: apathy. Apathy or the loss of interest, enthusiasm or concern, is the "leading neuropsychiatric symptom of dementia" however it often goes unnoticed by families and in care.
But Democrats' year of work on writing elections and voting legislation — and GOP opposition to an effort designed to undo state-level ballot restrictions — turned Schumer into a proponent of scrapping the Senate's 60-vote threshold, at least for this bill. He and most of his members have endorsed what they see as a limited change to chamber rules. Even so, Schumer has set the table for a future majority with a slightly bigger margin, whether it's Democratic or Republican, to follow through where he fell short and perhaps go further.

Thor and Airstream announced a new electric concept that fundamentally challenges our collective preconceptions of what a travel trailer is supposed to be. Rather than simply being dead weight on the highway, the self-propelled eStream takes some of the burden off its tow vehicle thanks to its self-contained electric powertrain. This is one of two electric campers Thor introduced today, but while the Thor Vision Vehicle is a Transit-based electric RV done in the same style as conventional ICE van builds, the eStream concept is much wilder and more interesting.
