The CIA reportedly examined multiple sources of intelligence, including a phone call to Khashoggi from the prince’s brother Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi ambassador to the United States.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has proposed a major change in the way American universities deal with campus sexual assault and harassment allegations in a move rights groups say could harm survivors. Ms DeVos has wants to add protections for those accused and limit situations in which schools would be required by law to investigate complaints brought forward by alleged victims, changes she said will treat both sides fairly. The requirements for investigation include only incidents which occurred on the universities’ campuses or property under the school’s authority and in those cases, only if the incident is reported to certain officials.
Hours after announcing the discovery of an Argentine submarine lost deep in the Atlantic a year ago with 44 crew members aboard, the government said Saturday that it is unable to recover the vessel, drawing anger from missing sailors' relatives who demanded that it be raised. Defense Minister Oscar Aguad said at a press conference that the country lacks "modern technology" capable of "verifying the seabed" to extract the ARA San Juan, which was found 907 meters (2,975 feet) deep in waters off the Valdes Peninsula in Argentine Patagonia, roughly 600 kilometers (373 miles) from the port city of Comodoro Rivadavia. The company, commissioned by the Argentine government, began searching for the missing vessel Sept. 7.

Gillum posted the video 11 days after the 2018 midterm elections, when tight margins between the two candidates triggered an automatic machine recount.

There are eight House Democratic leadership races and, barring something dramatic, the top three posts are already accounted for: Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) is likely the next speaker, Rep. Steny Hoyer (Md.) is likely the next majority leader and Rep. Jim Clyburn (S.C.) is likely the next majority whip. The race for the fourth highest post, assistant Democratic leader, is between two men, Reps. Ben Ray Luján (N.M.) and David Cicilline (R.I.). Rep. Cheri Bustos (Ill.) had previously spent weeks laying the groundwork to run for the seat.

In a preliminary ruling, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., sided with CNN on Friday in its lawsuit against President Trump, ordering the White House to immediately reinstate correspondent Jim Acosta’s press credentials. U.S. District Court Judge Timothy J. Kelly, who was appointed by Trump, said the White House failed to provide Acosta due process in revoking his access, and he granted a temporary restraining order restoring it. The judge said that Trump does not have to call on Acosta ever again but that the CNN chief White House correspondent is owed due process before the administration can revoke his “hard,” or permanent, press pass.
