Biden's biggest margin among likely voters in any Yahoo News/YouGov poll to date. The survey, which was conducted from Oct. 16 to 18, shows that a majority of likely voters (51 percent) now say they are voting for the Democratic nominee, while just 40 percent say they are voting for Trump. Biden's lead, which is identical among registered voters, has grown by 3 points since last week's Yahoo News/YouGov poll.
But in hard-hit Spain, which has the highest cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the European Union and where, with national cases surging over 13,000 a day, capital Madrid is again under lockdown and new restrictions are going into effect all over the country, that behavior was considered outrageous, driving at least one patron out of the restaurant and home, he said, to shower. Now Sweden has the lowest COVID rate in all Europe,” the visitor boasted, though statistics refute his claim. Not to mention that he was ignoring even the recommendations that the Swedish Public Health Agency did make, including social distancing, frequent washing of hands and coughing into elbows.
A court bailiff arrived at the sprawling North Bay Road home where Phil Collins' ex wife turned ex girlfriend is currently holed up with her new husband Tuesday. Neither Orianne Cevey nor her new musician husband Thomas Bates was seen in the series of photos, but at least two guards in dark shirts met the server, who was accompanied by two Miami Beach police officers, at the gate. According to a lawsuit filed last week and reviewed by the Miami Herald Friday, Collins is suing Cevey for “an armed occupation and takeover” of the $33 million home that he bought in 2016 and owns “100 percent,” says the lawsuit.
For much of his first term, President Trump has claimed that significant proposals would be coming “soon” or “in a few weeks” or, often, “two weeks” — notably health care. He has been saying a cheaper health plan that would provide better coverage for all Americans than the Affordable Care Act has been just around the corner since the early days of his campaign in 2015. With two weeks until Election Day — and millions of votes already cast — the clock is ticking for Republicans as Democrats reprise their successful midterm strategy of warning that the administration and the GOP want to end mandated coverage for preexisting medical conditions.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has reportedly shut down all hope of passing a COVID-19 stimulus bill in the next two weeks. Discussions regarding the next relief bill have gone on for months with no actual results after the last package — and the boosted unemployment insurance that came with it — expired after July. Mnuchin and Pelosi have been in talks for weeks, with Pelosi setting Tuesday as a deadline for both sides getting their "terms on the table."
On a windy August afternoon in 2017, Akitsinnguaq Ina Olsen was relaxing in the old harbour of Nuuk, Greenland's capital, when a Chinese icebreaker sailed unannounced into the Arctic island's territorial waters. The Chinese ship was one of a growing number of unexpected arrivals in Arctic waters as shrinking sea ice has fast-tracked a race among global powers for control over resources and waterways. Both China and Russia have been making increasingly assertive moves in the region, and after the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last year said now is "America's moment to stand up as an Arctic nation and for the Arctic's future," military activity is stepping up.
Faked nude images of more than 100,000 women have been created from social media pictures and shared online, according to a new report. Clothes are digitally removed from pictures of women by Artificial Intelligence (AI), and spread on the messaging app Telegram. Some of those targeted "appeared to be underage", the report by intelligence company Sensity said.
A fisherman who reeled in a 110-pound “monster” catfish in Georgia, setting a new state record, is also catching heat for the rare fish's death. The massive fish, hooked last week on the Chattahoochee River, is the largest ever blue catfish caught in Georgia, the state's Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday. Tim Trone, of Havana, Florida, took the prized catch to DNR for an official weigh-in this week, and the record was made official.
U.S. Army officials announced Tuesday that Vanessa Guillén, the 20-year-old Fort Hood soldier who went missing in April, died "in the line of duty." "The Army conducts a line of duty determination for all Soldier deaths," Fort Hood officials said in a statement. The line-of-duty determination means that Guillén's family will receive Army benefits, such as compensation for expenses, the Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance, allowances and a funeral with full military honors.
He campaigned against Vice President Joe Biden, but former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is backing Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Steele, a lifelong Republican, joined The Lincoln Project in August as a senior adviser, and in a new ad released by the anti-Trump group on Tuesday, Steele officially endorsed Biden for president. The video begins with Steele discussing a plot in 1861 to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln on his way to the inauguration.
Employees at a Florida manufacturing company got letters along with their pay stubs warning they might lose their job if President Trump isn't re-elected. While sending out letters like these is legal, the move was controversial enough it helped one employee decide to quit. "If Trump and the Republicans win (the election), DMC will hopefully be able to continue operating, more or less as it has been operating lately,” read the letter, which went out to the 170 or so employees of aerospace supplier Daniels Manufacturing, Orlando's WESH reported.
It's central to space communications at NATO — the biggest and most modern of four such stations the military alliance runs. Around 2,000 satellites orbit the earth, over half operated by NATO countries, ensuring everything from mobile phone and banking services to weather forecasts. More than 20 months after a Venezuelan oil tanker carrying nearly 55 million gallons of crude oil was abandoned off the country's northern coast following tightened U.S. sanctions, inspectors from neighboring Trinidad and Tobago will finally get a chance to see for themselves if the idle vessel's cargo could lead to a major ecological disaster off the Caribbean coast of South America. Trinidad and Tobago's energy and foreign ministers both confirmed to the Miami Herald that a team will head out Tuesday to visit the Venezuelan-flagged floating storage and offloading vessel Nabarima, which environmentalists say is taking on water and threatening to spill 1.3 million barrels of oil into the gulf between both countries. The ship is in the Gulf of Paria, between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.

The 90-year-old founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, who has been a supporter and defender of the president, also made dire predictions about the end of the world.

Lobsang Sangay, the president of the Tibetan Central Administration (CTA), met the new U.S. special coordinator on Tibet last week. Sangay said it was the first time that the head of the CTA had been received at the State Department.
She may be on the verge of becoming America's first lady if her husband wins the White House, but don't expect Dr Jill Biden to give up her teaching career. For Dr Biden, who has four university degrees, says she plans on continuing to work full time as a community college professor even if her husband becomes the world's most powerful politician. If that plays out Dr Biden, who has five grandchildren, would become the first first lady to to have a career outside of the White House.
The Philippine president has said he accepts responsibility for the thousands of killings committed during police operations in his crackdown on drugs, adding that he was even ready to go to jail. President Rodrigo Duterte's televised remarks Monday night were typical of his bluster — and tempered by the fact that he has pulled his country out of the International Criminal Court, where a prosecutor is considering complaints related to the leader's bloody campaign. The remarks were also a clear acknowledgement that Duterte could face a deluge of criminal charges.
President Trump made a hypothetical statement during a rally on Monday, using ExxonMobil as an example of a company he could call and ask for campaign donations in exchange for government favors. The oil giant quickly tweeted a clarification. "We are aware of the president's statement regarding a hypothetical call with our CEO," ExxonMobil stated, "and just so we're all clear, it never happened."
In September, a close friend of Anil Hebbar died of Covid-19 in India's western city of Mumbai after being ferried around three hospitals over five days. Mr Hebbar, who runs a medical equipment firm, had visited his 62-year-old friend, a well-known social worker, in the intensive care unit, hours before his life ended. The social worker was not the only friend Mr Hebbar lost during the pandemic.
The diplomatic spat between Canada and China grew more heated on Monday as Beijing denounced press criticism of its ambassador to Ottawa, only to have Canada's deputy prime minister and opposition leader echo the criticism. The exchange comes at a moment when ties between the countries are at their lowest point in years, largely due to China' outrage over Canada's detention of a top executive of Chinese telecoms giant Huawei and the subsequent arrest of two Canadians. The new friction arose when China's ambassador to Canada, Cong Peiwu, branded pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong as violent criminals and said if Canada grants them asylum it would amount to interference in China's internal affairs.
Donald Trump threatened to post the 60 Minutes interview he cut short 'PRIOR TO AIRTIME' as he mask-shamed a journalist. The president took to Twitter to make the threat an hour after it was reported he “abruptly” walked out on a White House interview with Lesley Stahl of CBS News. “I am pleased to inform you that, for the sake of accuracy in reporting, I am considering posting my interview with Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes, PRIOR TO AIRTIME!” wrote Mr Trump.
Republican senators who previously opposed the nomination of a Supreme Court justice during an election year, yet support the appointment of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, are the latest target in a contentious confirmation battle. Advertisments set to run Tuesday that are funded by Republicans for the Rule of Law — a project of the anti-Trump group Defending Democracy Together — will remind voters of GOP senators' objections in 2016 to Judge Merrick Garland's nomination by former President Barack Obama. The spots say that Republicans such as Florida Sen. Marco Rubio “blocked” a new Supreme Court justice four years ago, saying that the American people deserved to have their voices heard.
