A Military Times poll found that 43.1% of active-duty respondents said they were voting for Biden while only 37.4% said they were voting for Trump. Another poll of veterans more generally found that 52% were voting for Trump while only 42% were voting for Biden.
An 18-year-old who was shot Saturday at Nockamixon State Park died from his injuries, according to authorities. Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub said Jason Kutt died after he was shot at the park about 5:15 p.m. Saturday. Kutt was sitting with his girlfriend near the lake when he was shot in the back of his neck, he said.
Nearly 6,000 Afghan civilians were killed or wounded in the first nine months of the year as heavy fighting between government forces and Taliban insurgents rages on despite efforts to find peace, the United Nations said on Tuesday. From January to September, there were 5,939 civilian casualties in the fighting - 2,117 people killed and 3,822 wounded, the U.N. Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a report. "High levels of violence continue with a devastating impact on civilians, with Afghanistan remaining among the deadliest places in the world to be a civilian," the mission said in a quarterly report.

The Supreme Court sided with Republicans in Wisconsin on Monday, ruling 5-3 along ideological lines that Wisconsin can count only those absentee ballots that arrive by Election Day — even if they were mailed days earlier. Since first-class mail has been taking an average of 10 days to be delivered in the state, Wisconsin's Democratic Party urged mail-in Democrats to hand-deliver their absentee ballots or vote in person. The practical issue involves what happens with Wisconsin's 700,000 outstanding absentee ballots.
A DNA sample taken from a South Carolina man after his arrest for pointing a gun while drunk has cracked a long-cold case, identifying him as the lead suspect in the slaying of a woman four decades ago, according to court documents. Charles Ugvine Coleman, 65, was arrested last week and charged with murder and rape in the killing of Elizabeth Ann Howell Wilson, who disappeared after her shift at a textile mill on March 20, 1976, officials said. South Carolina law required Coleman's DNA be collected and sent to state officials after his arrest in April, because pointing and presenting a firearm is a felony punishable by at least five years in prison if convicted at trial.
Michigan police chiefs say that may not be able to enforce a ban on carrying guns at polling places, local news channel WKAR reported. The ban was imposed in October by Michigan secretary of state Jocelyn Benson in response to concerns of voter intimidation on Election Day. Members of a far-right so-called militia group were recently charged with plotting to kidnap and assassinate Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Law enforcement agencies across Ohio cooperated during a monthlong investigation, dubbed "Operation Autumn Hope," leading to 179 arrests and the recovery of 45 missing children. In all, 109 human trafficking victims were rescued and referred to social services, the Ohio Attorney General's Office reported. In televised remarks on state TV, Putin "took the time to knock down what he made clear he regarded as false allegations from Trump about the Bidens," Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his son Hunter, Reuters reports. Putin said Trump's story about Hunter Biden getting money from the widow of a former Moscow mayor was news to him, even though Trump tried to tie Putin to the alleged payment.

A hurricane warning was issued for Louisiana on Monday, as Tropical Storm Zeta made landfall in Mexico on its way to the US Gulf Coast. Hurricane Zeta hit Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula on Monday evening with winds of up to around 80mph, but weakened to a tropical storm with wind speeds of 70mph as it crossed over land overnight. The storm is expected to reach the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, before then travelling to the US overnight and through Wednesday.

An Arizona man has been arrested after he accosted two young Black men outside of his mixed-use commercial/residential property over the weekend. As seen in captured video, the man, Paul Ng, stopped the pair, who were reportedly recording a YouTube show, and inquires what they are photographing.
