According to the Largo Police Department, Griffith was at a Walmart on Missouri Avenue on Saturday, May 15, and bent over to pick up the soda case. A bullet hit Griffith's upper right thigh.
Climate change-triggered sea level rise added $8 billion in damage during 2012's Superstorm Sandy, one of nation's costliest weather disasters, a new study said. During Sandy — a late fall freak combination of a hurricane and other storms that struck New York and surrounding areas — the seas were almost 4 inches (9.6 centimeters) higher because of human-caused climate change, according to a study in Tuesday's journal Nature Communications. Researchers calculated that those few inches caused 13% of Sandy's overall $62.5 billion damage, flooding 36,000 more homes.
The head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service has denied carrying out a cyber attack on software business SolarWinds which gave hackers access to large portions of the US government as well as hundreds of businesses. Sergei Naryshkin, the director of Russia's SVR spy agency, said he was “flattered” by US and UK accusations that his organisation directed the hack but denied responsibility for it. A man died by suicide inside a federal courtroom in North Dakota after he was found guilty, officials say. A U.S. Marshal told KVRR the man was on trial at the Fargo courthouse and the jury had returned a guilty verdict when he “produced an edge weapon and cut his throat” in front of the judge, courtroom staff and others. A woman who said she was in the courtroom spoke to KVLY but declined to share her name.
US Rep Rashida Tlaib says that some of her Democratic colleagues in Congress express empathy towards the Palestinians in private, but do not in public. Darwin's Arch, the famed rock formation in the Galápagos Islands, has collapsed, officials said. The arch was located about a mile away from Darwin's Island, also named for Charles Darwin.
