Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report contradicts a high-profile Buzzfeed News story that indicated Mueller's team had evidence President Trump directed Michael Cohen to lie to Congress. Cohen pled guilty to lying to Congress last year after it was revealed that he told lawmakers that conversations about the construction of a Moscow Trump Tower ended in January 2016, when they actually continued for months thereafter and involved Trump personally. A January 18 Buzzfeed story claimed that Cohen told the Mueller's team that Trump “personally instructed him” to mislead lawmakers “in order to obscure Trump's involvement” in the Moscow Trump Tower project.

A time lapse camera installed just hours before Monday's devastating blaze at Notre-Dame de Paris may contain vital clues as to what caused the inferno, a French scaffolding company working at the cathedral said on Thursday. Europe Echafaudage was one of five companies contracted to restore Notre-Dame's 90-metre (295-foot) spire, which collapsed in the blaze, crashing through the cathedral's vaulted ceiling. Footage from the camera, which was placed on the northern belltower and is now in the hands of investigators, shows the first smoke coming out of the spire's base, Marc Eskenazi, a representative for Europe Echafaudage, told Reuters.

She was hunted down in a forested campground in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, west of Denver, late morning on Wednesday.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continued to tease a Kentucky Republican lawmaker for backpedaling on his invitation for her to visit the Bluegrass State. The freshman New York Democrat – often referred to as "AOC" – used her Twitter platform Wednesday to again call attention to Rep. Andy Barr, who invited her to the state last month to tour an underground coal mine. Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, now says she similarly asked Barr to come to the Bronx, which is part of her New York district, to participate in a town hall on climate change.
The U.S. Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment. California's Attorney General Xavier Becerra said in a statement, "We continue to prove in California that the rule of law not only stands for something but that people cannot act outside of it." Scores of Democrat-controlled cities and counties have adopted policies to limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, making them a target for President Donald Trump.
These buildings move' - The stories of York Minster and Notre-Dame have faithfully traced each other's footsteps over the centuries. Britain's cathedral was completed in 1360 -- just 15 years after Notre-Dame -- and shares the same building materials and shape as its Parisian cousin. David was one of a dozen or so stoneworkers in York when its "minster" -- an Old English word that means a large or important church -- nearly went down in flames in 1984.

Apple's automotive initiative, unofficially dubbed Project Titan, appears to still be alive and kicking. What's more, the report relays that Apple, in addition to exploring third-party solutions, also has a team of engineers working on developing an Apple-branded lidar sensor. While it remains to be seen if anything comes of Apple's exploration, the larger point here is that Apple still has grand ambitions in the automotive space.
The following are some key quotes from Mueller's 448-page report: "When (former Attorney General Jeff) Sessions told the President that a Special Counsel had been appointed, the President slumped back in his chair and said, 'Oh my God. You gotta call Rod ...," Trump told former White House Counsel Donald McGahn during a June 17, 2017, phone call in which he asked McGahn to remove Mueller due to conflicts of interest. "Call Rod, tell Rod that Mueller has conflicts and can't be the Special Counsel," Trump said during a second phone call that same day.

Donald Trump has taken another step towards reversing Barack Obama's historic rapprochement with Cuba with a measure that earned swift criticism from allies in Canada and Europe. The US announced on Wednesday that it would enable lawsuits against foreign companies that use properties nationalised by the communist government after Fidel Castro's 1959 revolution. The policy shift, which could draw hundreds of thousands of legal claims worth tens of billion of dollars, aims to put pressure on Cuba at a moment when the US is demanding an end to Havana's support for Venezuela's socialist president, Nicolás Maduro.
The official, who spoke anonymously because of the ongoing probe, said investigators made an initial assessment Wednesday but have not been given the OK to work through the rubble because of safety reasons. Officials said early on that it was possible the blaze was linked to a $6.8 million renovation project at the 850-year-old landmark. The blaze collapsed the cathedral's iconic spire, most of the roof was ravaged, and the damage to the 12th-century building elsewhere was extensive. But its twin bell towers, rose windows, 18-century organ and precious artworks were saved.
A comedian tipped to take over Ukraine's presidency and his incumbent rival went head-to-head in a bitter stadium debate Friday, as campaigning reached its grand finale before a weekend vote. Polls show Volodymyr Zelensky, a 41-year-old standup comic with no political experience, handily defeating President Petro Poroshenko in a second-round of voting on Sunday. The showman's bid started as a long shot but he leapfrogged establishment candidates amid frustration over corruption, economic trouble and a conflict with Moscow-backed insurgents in the country's east.

Furdiki Sherpa, who lost her husband in a mountaineering accident, and Nima Doma, whose husband was killed in the 2014 avalanche, are also attempting to summit Everest, to bring attention to the plight of Sherpa families living in the shadow of the world's highest peak.
DENVER – After a massive one-day manhunt, a woman allegedly infatuated with the Columbine mass shooting was found dead Wednesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sol Pais, who made "credible threats" against Denver-area schools four days before the 20th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting, fatally shot herself, Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader said. The 18-year-old South Florida woman flew Monday night from Miami to Colorado and immediately bought a pump-action shotgun and ammunition at a gun shop in the Littleton area, not far from Columbine High School, Shrader said.
A fossil hunter's attempt to sell a young Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton on eBay for $2.95 million (£2.25 million) set off a furore among scientists who warned that it needed to be studied, not sold to the highest bidder. The skeleton's owner, Alan Detrich, defended his decision to try to sell the 15-foot fossil to a wealthy private collector, arguing that it could still be subject to research. “Mr Detrich has tried to capitalise on the museum's good faith by using the exhibition and scientific attention as selling points” on eBay, the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology said in a letter last week.
