Dec. 25—Opportunity House

Alyssa Bushkie has been named chief operating officer of Opportunity House. She is the first chief operating officer in the organization's history.

In this new role, Bushkie is responsible for oversight of the homeless shelter, housing program, Second Street Learning Center, Warehouse and OppShop, retail thrift operation.

Prior to joining Opportunity House, Bushkie worked at the YMCA of Reading and Berks County since 2012, serving most recently as director of operations, where she was responsible for operational oversight of five branches, leading the executive and communications teams. Previous roles at the YMCA of Reading and Berks County included: branch executive director, child care director and youth and family director.

A Berks County native, Bushkie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Penn State Berks, and a master's degree in strategic human resource management from St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia.

Barley Snyder

Albert T. Keyack has joined the firm of Barley Snyder as an attorney in its Intellectual Property Practice Group, based in Malvern.

Keyack brings more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property law to the firm. He has represented the European Patent Office (EPO) as the first Attaché to the United States, a role that advocates for European patents and acts as a liaison with U.S. based applicants to the EPO. Keyack was also a partner at a Philadelphia-based law firm while being involved with the American Intellectual Property Association and the Intellectual Property Owners Association. He also had a patent and intellectual property practice through his own firm and has spoken extensively on a wide range of intellectual property topics in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and more.

Keyack graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and obtained his law degree from Rutgers Law School.

RKL LLP

RKL LLP has expanded its financial services, senior living and tax expertise with five new hires.

Heather Homola has joined the firm as a manager in RKL's Financial Services Industry Group. With a bachelor's degree in political science from West Chester University, she brings with her five years of industry experience and one year of public accounting experience.

Mark Wolfrey, CAMS-Audit, CRCM, MBA has joined RKL's Financial Services Industry Group as a senior manager, providing Bank Secrecy Act (BSA/AML), regulatory compliance audit and consultation services. He brings with him experience in compliance management and auditing. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and business administration from Ursinus College and an MBA in finance from Goldey-Beacom College, Graduate School of Business.

Thomas Romano, CPA has joined the firm as a manager in the Tax Services Group, where he assists pass through entities and owners. He brings with him seven years of public accounting experience and a bachelor's in business administration from Kutztown University.

Jennifer Witmer, CPA has joined the firm as a manager in the Tax Services Group with 17 years of public and private accounting experience. In her role, she provides tax planning and compliance services to clients in various industries. She has her bachelor's degree in business administration from Shippensburg University.

Eric Bender, CPA serves as a manager in the Senior Living Services Group, providing interim controller and CFO services, among other financial assistance. A graduate of Grove City College with his B.S. in accounting and Regent University with an MBA, Bender brings with him 30 years of accounting and finance experience.
