Jan. 22—Muhlenberg Greene Architects

David R. Kline, design technician at Muhlenberg Greene Architects has been appointed secretary of the board by the Greater Reading Young Professionals (GRYP), for a one-year term.

Last year, Kline led a GRYP tour and networking event at the firm's 2021 Building Berks Award Winning project, The Reading Distilling Guild, at 503 Penn St. in Reading. In his new role, Kline will serve as the official record keeper and advisor to aid board directors in fulfilling their fiduciary duties.

Kline holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Marywood University School of Architecture, with a minor in business administration. In addition, he holds a certificate as an apprentice draftsman from the Berks Career and Technology Center. An associate member of the American Institute of Architects, Kline is working toward licensure in the field of architecture. Kline joined Muhlenberg Greene Architects in 2021 and has served as the firm's GRYP representative since then.

Reading Public Library

Alan B. Carman has been named president of Reading Public Library's Board of Trustees. Carman is a CPA who recently retired as a partner in the Small Businesses Services Group of RKL LLP. He previously served as a member of the Library's Board of Trustees.

In addition to his service to Reading Public Library, he is currently Treasurer of the Berks County Parrot Head Cub. Carman also served on the PICPA Peer Review Committee for 35 years and was an active supporter of the Conrad Weiser Community Association. He holds a BS in business administration from Kutztown University

Julia S. Becker has been named to a three year term as a member of the Reading Public Library's Board of Trustees. She currently works as the development manager of Helping Harvest, and is a member of the 2023 class of Leadership Berks.

A graduate of Penn State University, Becker previously worked in the rental and finance departments at Penske Truck Leasing before moving to the nonprofit sector in 2018. Prior to her position at Helping Harvest, she served as director of business development for Berks Encore for three years.

Her volunteer service includes the Berks Community Health Center and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals — Berks Chapter.

Pennsylvania Petroleum Association

Don Mumma has been hired as the director of training and workforce development for the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association — a not-for-profit trade association representing more than 400 energy stakeholders. The association also operates PPATEC which offers leading hands-on technical training solutions for the HVAC and energy industry.

In his new position, Mumma is responsible for directing the design, planning, and implementation of all PPATEC training programs, as well as supporting the growth of PPATEC during its planned expansion of programming and personnel.

Mumma has served for more than 20 years in the areas of HVAC and plumbing service and installation with Vertex Mechanical in Stevens, where he was service and installation manager, and with Haller Enterprises in Lititz.
