Mar. 6—Albright College

Yamil Sanchez Rivera, Ed.D., assistant superintendent of operations, Reading School District has been named a member of the Albright College board of trustees.

An educator with more than 25 years of experience working with schools and nonprofits, Sanchez has served as a teacher and administrator of youth and family services for nonprofits in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York.

Born in Puerto Rico, Sanchez moved to Reading in 1981. He is fluent in Spanish and English and holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Villanova University, a master's degree in education in curriculum and instruction from Kutztown University, a master's degree in business administration and a doctorate in education in curriculum and instruction from Lehigh University.

Sanchez began his career as a teacher in the Reading School District in 1995, and later taught in the Allentown School District and at the Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School. He returned to the Reading School District in 2020, where he is now directly responsible for athletics, communications, information technology, equity, facilities, safe schools and transportation. He previously served as the senior vice president of community impact at the United Way of Berks County as well as Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley, the United Way of Delaware, the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families Inc., and the Police Athletic League of Reading and Berks County. Sanchez has also served as the Head of School for the I-LEAD Charter School and the Kuumba Academy Charter School.

He is a member of the board of directors at the Reading Hospital, Centro Hispano and Berks Community Action Program, as well as a member of the United Way's cabinet and BCPS Berks Connections.

MG Architects

James A. Sarro, AIA, principal at MG Architects has been added to the GRCA board of directors. Sarro will serve on the chamber's membership committee, engaging local businesses about the opportunities for professionals and businesses to connect and the programs that support individual and business growth.

In addition to his role on the GRCA board and membership committee, Sarro currently serves as chairman of the Union Township planning commission and the environmental advisory committee. A native of Pottstown, Sarro lives in Douglassville with his wife, Kim, and their two daughters, Lauren, and Katie.

Sarro earned a degree in architectural design from Lincoln Technical Institute and is an accredited professional through Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), with a specialty in building design and construction. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and has more than 20 years of experience as an architect registered in multiple states.

As a principal of MG Architects, Sarro brings oversight to all aspects of the design process. He also serves as firm secretary and provides leadership for marketing and business development activities.

Barley Snyder

Barley Snyder Attorney Sarah Rubright McCahon was recently elected chairwoman of the board of directors for Girls on the Run Berks County, serving Berks and Schuylkill counties.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower young girls in third through eighth grades through regular running sessions that include confidence-building discussions, activities and games.

McCahon joined GOTR's governance committee in the fall of 2018, joining the board shortly after. She has served as chair of the governance committee for the past several years and as the vice chair of the board from 2020-2022. McCahon volunteers for GOTR 5k celebrations and other fundraising events. As chairwoman, she will continue to help further GOTR's mission of inspiring girls to build their confidence, kindness and decision-making abilities while instilling valuable life skills including the connection between physical and emotional health.

McCahon is a member of Barley Snyder's Trusts & Estates, Elder Law and Business practice groups, concentrating her practice in estate planning and estate and trust administration. She is also active with other community organizations and is a member of Women2Women.

Saxton & Stump

Sara C. Arndt, the former director of success, at Saxton & Stump, has been promoted to an expanded role as senior director of success and integration.

In her new role, Arndt oversees the marketing and business development teams while continuing to focus on lateral recruiting. She works directly with the CEO and collaborates with department managers to ensure that resources are deployed strategically and effectively.

Before joining Saxton & Stump, she served as legal operations manager at The Hershey Company. Arndt received her B.S. summa cum laude in business administration from Elizabethtown College and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
