Newsweek nominates OMSI for best science museum in the U.S.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is in the running for “Best Science Museum” for Newsweek’s 2024 Reader’s Choice Awards.

OMSI is one of 15 science museums in the U.S. nominated for the category. Other notable museums up for the award include the Exploratorium in San Francisco, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and Boston’s Museum of Science.

“Guests of all ages can engage in a full range of STEM exhibits at OMSI, and bonus features include the Kendall Planetarium and the Empire Theater, which shows both documentaries and Hollywood favorites,” the Newsweek voting page states. “Visitors can also tour the USS Blueback submarine to learn firsthand about how humans can live and work under water. The museum also hosts a wide range of special events, camps, and classes including festivals and Science Pubs.”
