Newton girls tennis falls to Pella Christian
Apr. 13—PELLA — One of the 11 matches the Newton girls' tennis team played against Pella Christian on Tuesday went to a third set.
That was the only match the Cardinals took from the Eagles during a Little Hawkeye Conference contest.
Paige Benson and Alexis Dirkson won their match at No. 4 doubles, but Newton lost the other 10 matches in straight sets during a 10-1 road loss.
The Cardinals (2-3 overall, 1-2 in conference play) went 0-6 in singles matches and 1-5 in doubles competition.
Ella Swarts and Izzy Wilson took one of their sets to 6-4 during the No. 2 and No. 6 singles matches, respectively, while Sloan Brodersen and Brooklyn Sterling lost their first set 7-5 at No. 5 doubles.
