The Next 'Bachelor' Spinoff Will Be a Dating Show for Seniors
Even if you don't watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, you have to commend the long-running ABC franchise for its dedication to constantly churning out spinoffs—Bachelor Pad, The Bachelor Winter Games, and Bachelor in Paradise are all former or currently running Bachelor spinoffs, and there are three (!) more spinoffs coming in the next year.
But the most intriguing of the upcoming spinoffs is the senior dating show that was announced during the most recent episode of Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor. A title card stated that ABC is searching for "seniors looking for love," and interested parties should head to the network's casting page.
While there aren't that many details about the new show yet, we were able to dig up some key things that you should know—here's all the info about the upcoming Bachelor spinoff for seniors.
The Bachelor's senior dating show is for singles that are 65+.
While The Bachelor is known for its rather skewed ideas about age—the oldest female contestants on the show are usually around 28, and one memorable season featured a 22-year-old calling anyone over 27 a "cougar"—the senior show is definitely doing things the right way.
After the original announcement on TV, ABC reality show head Rob Mills clarified the show's intended age range online: "To be clear, this is 65+." He also tweeted that he wanted Bachelor Nation to give them their "Grumpiest Old Men" and "Goldenest Girls" which is...really something.

And here's what the casting directors are looking for:
Bachelor producer Lindsay Liles posted another casting call on Instagram, and the post explained that the show will be looking for "active and outgoing single men and women." The flyer also made it clear that only people that are ready for a committed relationship should apply.

However, it's unclear if the show will have a male or female lead, or if it'll be more of a Paradise situation, with a mixed group looking for love.
The senior dating show will probably premiere next year.
While the musical spinoff (The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart) and the athletic spinoff (The Bachelor: Summer Games) will air in 2020, the senior dating show doesn't have a premiere date yet. However, Chris Harrison, the host and captain of all things Bachelor, revealed that the show has been in the works for a while—so while a 2020 premiere seems unlikely, 2021 may finally bring the seniors to our TV screens.
