The Next Big Travel Destination Is in…Southeast Ohio?

When you think of up-and-coming vacation spots, you probably envision exotic locales or pristine beaches. But what if we told you the next big travel destination was in Ohio?

Yep, according to HomeAway’s 2019 trend report, Hocking Hills State Park is the year’s fastest growing (and most surprising) location. The park—which is southeast of Columbus, Ohio, and part of the Allegheny Plateau—features spectacular cliffs, gorges, waterfalls and rock shelters, and at least 20 campsites for visitors.

Hocking Hills is such a hot spot that HomeAway reports a 375 percent increase in vacation home demand in the past three years, and a 130 percent increase within the past year alone. Whoa.

So if your idea of vacation includes camping, hiking and leaf-peeping, we have it on good authority (ahem, from one Ohioan editor) that Hocking Hills is the place to be. Now…how many waterfall Instagrams can we post in one day? Asking for a friend.
