Neymar rape accuser Najila Trindade describes alleged attack on TV

A woman who has accused Brazilian football star Neymar of raping her in a hotel has taken her case public, repeating her claim on TV.

Najila Trindade, 26, also from Brazil, says the Paris Saint-Germain forward flew her from her home country to Paris after the pair met on Instagram.

Miss Trindade says she became "the victim of rape" in a hotel room in the French capital on 15 May.

Neymar denies the allegation, saying he is a victim of attempted blackmail.

Sky News does not normally name victims of rape, but is reporting Miss Trindade's identity as she has opted to go public herself.

The first complaint filed by the model's team alleged Neymar had used "aggression" or "physical violence" against her.

She went on to file a more serious rape complaint against Neymar on Friday with police in Sao Paulo. After filing the more serious complaint, Miss Trindade changed lawyers.

Speaking to Brazilian station SBT, Miss Trindade clarified her claim, saying: "I was the victim of rape" and that it was "aggression together with rape".

The case took another turn when a video emerged from within the Paris hotel room, apparently filmed the day after the alleged attack.

Shot from a partially hidden location, the video shows the pair seemingly friendly with Neymar getting onto the bed and Miss Trindade climbing on top to straddle him as the pair talk.

After around 15 seconds, Miss Trindade pulls back and begins to hit him, saying: "I'm going to hit you. Do you know why I'm going to hit you? Do you know why? Do you know why? Because you assaulted me yesterday. You left me here alone."

In the short clip, Neymar appears to kick out and then gets up to try to stop her hitting him.

According to Brazilian news source Globo1, Miss Trindade's lawyer said the video was filmed by his client and is much longer than the small clip that has been published. He gave no information about the rest of the clip, which is reportedly seven minutes long.

Miss Trindade's lawyer said the aim was to prove her claims about the attack and rape. He said she filmed their second encounter in a bid to prove Neymar can be aggressive.

In an interview with Cidade Alerta on Record TV, who published the video onto its Twitter page, Neymar's father verified the video and said: "This video will only prove that Neymar was attacked.

"She provokes an aggression for him to retaliate, but he realises that what was happening was a trap."

According to the claims in the police report filed by Miss Trindade, on 15 May after Neymar and the woman "caressed", the footballer became "aggressive", then used "violence" and "practised sexual intercourse against the will of the victim".

The former Barcelona player, who signed for PSG for a world record £198m, has confirmed he had two encounters with the woman in France but denies her claims.

The player posted a seven-minute video on Instagram on Sunday in which he denied the accusation and insisted it was "a set-up".

"Anyone who knows me, knows of my behaviour, knows that I would never do something like that," he said.

The video included intimate images and WhatsApp messages he says he exchanged with the accuser in a friendly way days later.

"There was a relationship between a man and a woman between four walls," he said, adding that "the next day nothing happened".

As a result of sharing those images, Neymar is now also being investigated by Rio de Janeiro's cyber crime division for posting on social media images of the woman without her consent.

A spokeswoman for Neymar said they are unable to comment pending the investigation.

However, on Wednesday, his lawyers disputed a statement issued by the woman's first legal team. The statement had said Neymar's representatives had asked for a meeting to discuss a settlement with the Miss Trindade.

Neymar's lawyers said it was her lawyers who had sought the meeting and that no agreement was reached.

Miss Trindade described herself as an "ordinary person who works, studies; I'm a model and a student of interior design who likes sports, training and dancing" as well as "a daughter and mother".
