NFA holds off Killingly in boys basketball; Top plays from Tuesday's high school games

The Norwich Free Academy boys basketball team got off to a fast start and held off Killingly in an Eastern Connecticut Conference interdivision contest Tuesday at Alumni Gymnasium in Norwich, while the Ellis Tech girls basketball team rolled past Goodwin Tech in a Connecticut Technical Conference battle.

Boys basketball

Tony Williams, Norwich Free Academy: Junior guard poured in a game-high 28 points to lift the Wildcats (4-5) to a 67-59 victory against Killingly.

Kody Jamieson, Norwich Free Academy: Sophomore guard drained three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points in the Wildcats’ win against Killingly (5-2).

Johnny Kazantzis, Killingly: Sophomore guard scored a team-high 25 points but Killingly’s five game winning streak ended with a 67-59 loss against NFA in Norwich.

Yianni Baribeau, Killingly: Senior forward collected 20 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks in Killingly’s loss against NFA.

Girls basketball

Kylie Damble, Ellis Tech: Junior forward poured in a game-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles past Goodwin Tech, 55-38.

Brooke Montecalvo, Ellis Tech: Junior forward collected 11 points, eight rebounds, and five steals in the Golden Eagles’ 55-38 win against Goodwin Tech.

Rose Lopez, Ellis Tech: Freshman forward had eight rebounds and seven points as the Golden Eagles improved to 5-3 with a CTC win against Goodwin Tech.

Natalie Becotte, Griswold: Junior guard scored a team-high 12 points but the Wolverines (3-5) fell to Stonington, 41-26.

Hannah Irons, Plainfield: Senior guard collected 10 points, eight rebounds, and five assists to lift the Panthers over Montville, 47-24.

Julianna Gallow, Plainfield: Senior forward had nine points, four rebounds, and three steals in a win against Montville.

Emily Speight, Plainfield: Senior forward had nine points, three rebounds, and two steals as the Panthers improved to 4-4 with a win over Montville.
