NFL flag football tournament brings 48 teams and 480 youth players to Green Bay

GREEN BAY – Football returned to Green Bay Saturday when 480 players from across the Midwest played in the NFL FLAG Regional Tournament hosted by the Green Bay Packers.

Games were played throughout the day on Ray Nitschke Field and in the Don Hutson Center.

Saturday proved an excellent day for football, with cloudy skies and rain holding off until the final games were moved into the Don Hutson Center.

Teams from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin participated in the tournament. Tournament division winners receive an entry into the 2023 NFL FLAG Championships at the Pro Bowl in Las Vegas, along with a $5,500 donation toward each team’s travel. Players between the ages of 8-17 participated.

Regional tournaments are held at multiple sites in each of four regions. Regional tournaments scheduled for specific geographic regions also will be held in Denver, Detroit, Hoover, Ala., Tampa, Hillsborough Township, N.J., and Baltimore. Super Regionals, which will accept teams regardless of where they are based, will be held in Atlanta in July and New Orleans in October.

Fall regional tournaments, which have not been scheduled, will be hosted by the Saints, Rams, Patriots, Browns, Commanders, Eagles, Texans and Cardinals.
