NFL Network kid reporter impressed Patrick Mahomes with knowledge of football history

A future star may have been born at Monday’s Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night media extravaganza at Allegiant Stadium.

The NFL Network wisely let 11-year-old Jeremiah Fennell ask questions of the Chiefs and 49ers players, and he started things off with a terrific chat with Patrick Mahomes.

Fennell ditched the questions he had planned for Mahomes and instead offered to play a game.

“So yeah, it was crazy. I had a whole list of questions that I wanted to ask you but now that I’m up here on the podium, I don’t even want to ask them anymore,” Fennell said. “Because let’s be real, this is your fourth time going to the Super Bowl, which means that this is your fourth Opening Night event. And if you look around, all of these reporters waiting to interview you, I want to have a little bit of fun first before all the chaos begins. So is that OK?

Mahomes responded: “Let’s do it, man.”

“So I want to build a fantasy team, but on two conditions, the rules are simple,” Fennell said. “We both have you as our quarterback since you’re one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. And the second rule is that you can’t pick anyone that’s on the current Chiefs roster, but you can pick players that are current or all-time players in the NFL.”

Mahomes agreed and the game was afoot. Fennell was poised and unflappable while talking with Mahomes. This is a fun video, and Mahomes seemed impressed by Fennell’s knowledge of NFL history.
