NFL Player JJ Watt Is Engaged to Kealia Ohai

Houston Texans player JJ Watt is engaged to Kealia Ohai, the couple revealed Sunday, May 26.

The athlete, 29, proposed to soccer player Ohai during sunset in front of the ocean and a bluff jutting out to sea. Watt was prepared to pop the question, even having the waterfront location designed out with rose petals leading to a homey-but-romantic setup in front of the water. A photographer was also nearby to capture the life milestone.

“I’m the luckiest man in the world. #SheSaidYes,” Watt tweeted.

The couple celebrated their engagement with a romantic meal looking out to the dreamy scenic location where they are staying.

Ohai is the captain of the Houston Dash. Shortly after Watt publicly revealed the news, the soccer player also took to Instagram to post a slideshow from the proposal. “Still can’t believe I get to be with you forever,” Ohai captioned the photos. “I love you @jjwatt.”

The couple first met through Watt’s former Texans teammate Brian Cushing. (In a cute twist of family ties, Cushing also happens to be Ohai’s brother-in-law.)

The future Mrs. Watt touched on her romance with the high-profile football athlete in an October 2016 podcast. “The rumors are true. We are dating,” she told the 2 Up Front podcast. “I’ve known JJ for a really long time, and we’ve always been great friends.”
