NFL power rankings Week 10: Eagles, Vikings, Bills, Chiefs lead NFL playoff picture

We are nine weeks into an NFL regular season that has 18 weeks, the midpoint of the season.

How does the playoff picture look for both conferences at the season's halfway point?

Right now, the 8-0 Philadelphia Eagles, who lead the NFC East, would be the No. 1 seed in the NFC, should the playoffs begin today. The 7-1 Minnesota Vikings, on top of the NFC North, would be No. 2.

No. 3? That would be the surprising 6-3 NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks as the next division leader. The 4-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be the No. 4 seed, thanks to being the NFC South leader.

Three teams land wild card NFL playoff berths in each conference in the current format and the NFC postseason bids would currently go to the 6-2 Dallas Cowboys (second in NFC East), the 6-2 New York Giants (third in NFC East) and the 4-4 San Francisco 49ers (second in NFC West).

NFL Week 10 odds:

The 6-2 Buffalo Bills would be the No. 1 seed in the AFC right now as the leader of the AFC East, followed by the 6-2, AFC West-leading Kansas City Chiefs.

The 5-3 Baltimore Ravens, leaders of the AFC North, would have the No. 3 seed in that conference's playoffs, followed by the AFC South leading Tennessee Titans, who are also 5-3.

The AFC wild card berths would currently go to the 6-3 New York Jets (second in AFC East), the 6-3 Miami Dolphins (third in AFC East) and the 5-3 Los Angeles Chargers (second in AFC West).

Buckle up. It could be a very wild ride in the second half of the NFL season.

Check out how we rank all 32 teams in the NFL heading into Week 10 of the 2022-23 season, from lowest to highest. Previous ranking in parenthesis.

32. Houston Texans (31)

Lost to Philadelphia Eagles, 29-17, to fall to 1-6-1. Davis Mills can't be the answer at QB for the Texans, who are now in line for the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers (29)

Entered bye in NFL Week 9 with 2-6 record. There are some very winnable games left on the schedule for Pittsburgh in the second half of the season.

30. Carolina Panthers (28)

Lost to Cincinnati Bengals, 42-21, to fall to 2-7. Does it even matter who plays quarterback for this team?

29. Las Vegas Raiders (27)

Lost to Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-20, to fall to 2-6. Yes, the Raiders are just 2-6, but they do face the Colts and Broncos in the next two weeks.

28. Detroit Lions (32)

Beat Green Bay Packers, 15-9, to improve to 2-6. Detroit snapped a 5-game skid in Week 9. Can they start a winning streak in Week 10 at the Bears?

27. Jacksonville Jaguars (30)

Beat Las Vegas Raiders, 27-20, to improve to 3-6. The Jaguars reward for beating the Raiders? A game at the Chiefs in Week 10.

Lost to Baltimore Ravens, 27-13, to fall to 3-6. Is Andy Dalton really the best option at quarterback for the Saints?

Entered bye in NFL Week 9 with 3-5 record. Exit it with a tough test at the Titans in Week 10.

22. Cleveland Browns (24)

Entered bye in NFL Week 9 with 3-5 record. Exit it with a huge showdown at the Dolphins in Week 10.

21. Arizona Cardinals (20)

17. Atlanta Falcons (16)

Lost to the Los Angeles Chargers, 20-17, to fall to 4-5. That this team is right in the thick of the NFC South race speaks volumes about the season in Atlanta.

16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (22)

Beat Los Angeles Rams, 16-13, to improve to 4-5. Writing off the Buccaneers may have been premature. They are now in first place in the NFC South.

For subscribers: A promising start by the Cardinals against Seattle turned into a cliche

Entered bye in NFL Week 9 with 6-2 record. The Giants could really be a contender. They have the Texans and Lions the next two weeks.

5. Dallas Cowboys (5)

Beat Washington Commanders, 20-17, to improve to 7-1. The schedule gets tougher with the Bills, Cowboys and Patriots on deck.

1. Philadelphia Eagles (1)

Beat Houston Texans, 29-17, to improve to 8-0.  How long will the Eagles go unbeaten? They have the Commanders, Colts and Packers up next.
