This NGO is on a mission to protect Lebanon’s wildlife

Location: Beit Mery, Lebanon

Lebanese Wildlife was started by veterinarian Gaby Hilan

The group treats injured wild animals

and releases them back into their natural habitat

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) HEAD OF LEBANESE WILDLIFE, GABY HILAN, SAYING:"The idea started as an individual initiative from each of us alone, they would get me the wild animals and then they'd try and treat them at home as much as they could, with my help. Then we would try our best to get them (animals) to a stage where we can release them again."

"Our mission is to release the animals into their natural habitat as quickly as possible, not to create a problem in the natural ecosystem, because removing any animal of those animals - especially in Lebanon where they have become endangered and subject to violence or getting shot - can create a problem."
