NH election 2022: Rick Stanton announces run for state rep. in North Hampton
I am running for New Hampshire state representative from Rockingham District 23. I am a retired military and civilian pilot with an educational background in Logistics and Political Science. I have volunteered for 11 years as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA). I have served in several capacities for North Hampton town government as chair of the Municipal Budget Committee, Selectman and Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The overturning of Roe v. Wade and the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act that is providing $64 bi federal tax dollars to subsidize Obamacare provided abortions has motivated me to become more involved in the issue of the Right to Life.
For me the Right to Life means I only support an abortion in very limited cases such as an ectopic pregnancy and only to save the mother’s life. A mother’s life has priority because of her role in a family. I strongly believe in paternal responsibilities, especially financial support. It also begins at conception. Contributions by fathers and fathers-to-be is one step in the right direction.
Having been a Guardian Ad Litem I have great respect and admiration for our social workers. They work many hours, for few dollars, dealing with all the social issues of our fragile society. We need more of them and to provide them greater compensation.
My goal is that I hope to see improved mental health programs in our public school system, particularly for children with special needs. As a society we need affordable health care for all, protection and safety for the elderly and help of all kinds for our most needy. I believe it can be done without a sales or income or any other tax increase. Since approximately $2.6 billion will be coming to NH from the Inflation Reduction Act it needs to be spent wisely. I hope to be the voice of the unborn.
True, it will be a challenge to do all this without raising the tax burden on our citizens; but I am confident it can be done. I have taken the pledge not to raise taxes.
I ask for your support, and, if elected, I will serve and represent ALL the people of North Hampton to the best of my ability because ALL LIVES MATTER.
