Active Retirement Association picnic and general meeting

PORTSMOUTH — The Active Retirement Association will host a free picnic and meeting on Monday, Sept. 11, at 12:30 p.m. at Stratham Hill Park, 270 Portsmouth Ave., Stratham. A lunch of sandwiches, chips, cookies, and bottled water will be served. This free event is open to the public, adults only, rain or shine.

Christmas stocking knitting class

DOVER — The Dover Library will host a Christmas stocking knitting class for intermediate knitters from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11. You must be comfortable casting on, knitting, purling, and working with two colors of yarn. You will need to bring size seven knitting needles, but all other supplies will be provided. Joseph C. A. Wingate: Stratham’s Link to 19th century China

STRATHAM — The Stratham Historical Society and Wiggin Memorial Library will jointly host “Joseph C. A. Wingate: Stratham’s Link to 19th Century China” on Monday, Sept. 11. The event at 7 p.m. is presented by Wingate's third great-nephew John Wingate Seavey.

Crafternoon at Dover Library

'Lunch and Learn' with first responders

BERWICK, Maine — Berwick for a Lifetime will host a “Lunch and Learn” program panel discussion with first responders at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Berwick Public Library. 'Spirits of the Granite State' with Roxie Zwicker

DOVER — Follow the peaceful dirt roads of New Hampshire to long forgotten ghost stories of the past with Roxie Zwicker of New England Curiosities. Zwicker will present “Spirits of the Granite State” on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dover Library. The presentation is in-person, with the option to watch virtually from home. Wastewater 101 at Portsmouth Library

PORTSMOUTH — Join the Department of Public Works Water, Wastewater, Stormwater experts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the library. They will provide an overview of basic wastewater treatment concepts and definitions, the city’s current sewer and wastewater treatment systems, status of current regulations, system performance, current challenges, and upcoming projects.

Bob Moore and Friends at Exeter Library

EXETER — Exeter Public Library will host local music group Bob Moore and Friends at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. The group will perform original folk and blues music and some original poetry with the help of friend Cynthia Chatis. This performance is free and open to the public. The Great Regeneration: A conversation with author Dorn Cox

DOVER — When you talk about farming, the furthest thing from your mind is open-source technology.
