NHC watching 3 tropical waves, including 1 in Caribbean. No development expected over next 5 days

The wait continues.

For another day, the National Hurricane Center is showing the message "No new tropical cyclones are expected during the next five days."

While the message is a good one, everyone is waiting for what is sure to come: tropical storms and hurricanes heading toward the U.S.

Forecasters agreed earlier this year an active hurricane season is coming. Colorado State University meteorologists predicted 19 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said 14 to 21 named storms will develop. Of the predicted hurricanes, three to six could be major hurricanes, packing wind speeds of 111 mph or higher.

Tropical wave 1: A tropical wave east of Cape Verde is moving west at 15 mph.

Tropical wave 2: Another tropical wave is located west-northwest of Cape Verde. It's moving to the west at 15 mph. This wave is embedded in a Saharan dust, which inhibits development.

Tropical wave 3: A tropical wave in the western Caribbean is located south of Havana. It's moving to the west at 15 mph.

Who is likely to be impacted?

Tropical wave 3: A weak tropical wave is bringing thunderstorms to South Florida this morning, according to the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network.

Clusters of storms are expected to continue pushing through the area today and locally heavy rain could lead to flash flooding.

It's too early at this time to determine if there will be any impact to the U.S. from the tropical waves.

Forecasters urge all residents to continue monitoring the tropics and to always be prepared during what's expected to be an active hurricane season.
