One thing every NHL team should be thankful for

The 2021-22 NHL season hasn't been kind to everyone, but even on the worst of teams, there is something to be thankful for.

We Canadians already celebrated Thanksgiving over a month ago, but any reason to eat turkey and pumpkin pie is one I'll gladly take, and this Thursday marks Turkey Day for our friends south of the border.

In the season of giving, here's one thing each NHL team can be thankful for at this point of the season.

Anaheim Ducks: Troy Terry's terrific point streak! It may be over, but the Ducks' forward notched at least one point in 16-straight outings, marking the third-longest streak in team history.

Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes can be thankful they have a place to play hockey games in... for now.

Boston Bruins: Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron are still playing well! Who knows how much longer either player (especially Bergeron) can continue producing at this level.

Buffalo Sabres: Cheap Jack Eichel merchandise! Now that the star centre has been dealt, you can find all of his fanwear and memorabilia on sale at the local Dave and Adam's Card World. In perfect time for the holidays, too!

Calgary Flames: Donuts. The Flames have blanked its opponents in seven of its 20 games, and Jacob Markstrom is averaging one shutout for every three starts.

Carolina Hurricanes: Seth Jarvis. The team's 2020 first-round pick will remain on the main roster after scoring four goals and six points through his first 10 NHL contests.

Chicago Blackhawks: Kyle Beach's courage.

Colorado Avalanche: Cale freaking Makar. The Avs have been hit hard by absences to key players through the early portion of the season, including Makar, but he's been excellent since returning from injury.

He's pretty good.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Overtime and shootouts! The Blue Jackets are a perfect 5-0 in games that go past regulation, which ties the squad for the most extra-time wins in the NHL.

Dallas Stars: Jake Oettinger. The Stars have been searching for someone to step up and perform well between the pipes, and Oettinger has been up to the task since being recalled from the AHL. In three outings, he's earned two wins, a 1.43 goals-against average, and a .955 save percentage.

Detroit Red Wings: Rookies, two of them specifically. Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond have been excellent for the Wings through the early portion of the 2021-22 season, combining for 33 points in 20 games. Both should be considered frontrunners for the Calder Trophy.

Edmonton Oilers: Being bad for as long as they were. If it wasn't for the horrid stretch of Oilers hockey between 2006 and 2019, the team would likely be a lot worse today. Thanks Peter Chiarelli and Co!

Florida Panthers: Sergei Bobrovsky remembered how to stop pucks. We were a little worried after two down seasons for the netminder, but he's bounced back in a big way for the Cats this year.

Los Angeles Kings: Jonathan Quick turning back time. The 35-year-old owns an impressive .939 save percentage and 1.88 GAA. Whether this play lasts or not is still up in the air, but his goaltending is a major reason why Los Angeles is in the mix in the Pacific Division.

Minnesota Wild: It's gotta be Moose.

This guy's a national treasure... and he can score, too!

Montreal Canadiens: Well, at least the 2022 NHL Draft is in Montreal!

Nashville Predators: Matt Duchene is good again! The Preds' centre leads the team in goals (12) and points (19). He already has more points this season than he had in 34 games last year.

New Jersey Devils: Their social media team.

This tweet was hilarious and helped distract me from the squad's new third jersey, which get a big "no" from me.

New York Islanders: To be back home... kinda. The Isles started the year on a 13-game road trip, but since returning to its new digs at UBS Arena, haven't won a game.

New York Rangers: Chris Kreider. The guy already has 13 goals this year which is fourth-most in the NHL.

Ottawa Senators: Good health. Most of the team is back after three games were delayed due to a huge COVID-19 outbreak within the organization.

Philadelphia Flyers: Not one but two good goalies! After a season where good goaltending performances were few and far between, Carter Hart and Martin Jones have been more than serviceable this year.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Sidney Crosby's wrist is fine. The superstar missed the beginning of the season recovering from surgery along with a stint in COVID-19 protocols, but he's back now and seems to be good to go.

San Jose Sharks: Mario Ferraro. This guy sacrifices his body every single night, as evidenced by his league-leading 51 blocks.

Seattle Kraken: You have a team. It's not a good one, but you're in the league.

St. Louis Blues: Vladdy's home! After two-straight injury-plagued seasons, Vladimir Tarasenko has returned to his goal-scoring ways.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Your goalie is still very, very good. The best, even.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Late-bloomer Jack Campbell. The world's kindest goalie has been stellar for the Maple Leafs.

Vancouver Canucks: Creativity!

Vegas Golden Knights: The team's trade allowed Jack Eichel to get successful artificial disk replacement surgery, something everybody should be thankful for.

Washington Capitals: Ovi is still Ovi.

Now that he's fourth all-time in goals scored, we'll see how much higher he can climb up the list.
