NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).
There are seven games scheduled for Friday night.
Evander Kane (San Jose) – W - $7,500 FanDuel, $6,800 DraftKings, $25 Yahoo
Kane has recorded multiple points in each of his last two games, including three assists on Wednesday. That’s part of a larger hot streak where he’s contributed at least a point in six of his last seven contests. He’s up to 22 goals and 48 points in 53 games.
Sean Couturier (Philadelphia) – C - $7,300 FanDuel, $6,800 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo
Couturier has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last eight games. At this point he has 16 goals and 38 points in 42 contests. If he manages to end the season on a high note and reach a point-per-game, then that will be the first time he’s accomplished that feat. He came close in 2018-19 with 76 points in 80 contests.
Tyler Seguin (Dallas) – C - $6,900 FanDuel, $6,300 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo
Seguin missed most of the season due to injury, but he made his return on Monday. He’s stepped up since coming back, scoring a goal in each of his first two games. With that in mind, he’s pretty good value for his price.
Tomas Hertl (San Jose) – C - $6,700 FanDuel, $6,000 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo
Dating back to April 21, Hertl has been one of the league’s top scorers with six goals and 13 points in eight contests. He had one bad stretch from Jan. 20-Feb. 9 where he was limited to an assist in eight games, but other than that he’s been amazing this season. He’s up to 19 goals and 41 points in 47 contests.
Jonathan Marchessault (Vegas) – W - $6,600 FanDuel, $6,500 DraftKings, $21 Yahoo
Marchessault is entering into Friday’s action on a six-game point streak. He has five goals and 10 points over that span. That brings him up to 16 goals and 41 points in 51 contests in 2020-21.
Bargain Bin: Ryan O'Reilly (STL) - $6,500 FanDuel/$6,500 DraftKings/$24 Yahoo, Oliver Bjorkstrand (CLM) - $6,400 FanDuel/$5,800 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, William Karlsson (VGK) - $5,600 FanDuel/$5,800 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Travis Konecny (PHI) - $5,400 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Conor Garland (ARI) - $5,200 FanDuel/$5,600 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo
Jakob Chychrun (Arizona) - $5,800 FanDuel, $7,400 DraftKings, $21 Yahoo
Chychrun isn’t a household name, but he’s been quietly having a great season. He’s set career-highs with 18 goals and 39 points in 54 contests. He’s also been hot lately, recording at least a point in three straight games and eight of his last 11 contests.
Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay) - $8,600 FanDuel, $8,200 DraftKings, $38 Yahoo
Vasilevskiy has been amazing this season, but he struggled from April 17-27, allowing at least three goals in four of five starts. He’s bounced back though, surrendering just two goals over his last two starts. Now that he’s past his cold streak, he’s worth grabbing again. He has a 31-8-1 record, 2.10 GAA, and .928 save percentage in 40 contests.
