NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are 10 games scheduled for Thursday.

Matthew Tkachuk (Calgary) – W – $9,000 FanDuel, $6,200 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

You won’t find many players hotter than Tkachuk right now. After recording five assists on Monday, he contributed two goals on Wednesday. At this point he’s recorded multiple points in each of his last four contests. He’s up to 20 goals and 44 points in 38 games this season.

Chris Kreider (NY Rangers) – W – $8,800 FanDuel, $6,300 DraftKings, $24 Yahoo

Kreider found the back of the net on Monday to extend his goal scoring streak to six games. He already has 30 goals and 43 points in 43 contests this season. The only players close to him in the goal scoring race are Alex Ovechkin and Leon Draisaitl, who each have 29 markers.

Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh) – C - $8,500 FanDuel, $8,200 DraftKings, $32 Yahoo

Crosby has been on a roll lately, scoring six goals and 10 points over his last six contests. If he’s taken a step back with age, it’s only been a slight one. He still has 11 goals and 34 points in 30 contests this season.

Bryan Rust (Pittsburgh) – W - $8,300 FanDuel, $7,400 DraftKings, $28 Yahoo

Rust has missed a significant chunk of the season, but since returning from a lower-body injury on Jan. 2, he’s been one of the league’s best players. He has eight goals and 18 points in just eight contests this month. That gives him the highest points-per-game pace of any player in the month of January and it puts him in a three-way tie for sixth place in the January points race despite missing games this month while in the COVID-19 protocol.

Sam Bennett (Florida) – C - $7,100 FanDuel, $5,600 DraftKings, $23 Yahoo

Bennett has found the back of the net in five of his last seven games. That’s propelled him to 18 goals and 26 points in 33 contests. He’s not a bad forward to roll the dice on while he’s hot, particularly at his DraftKings price.

Jesper Bratt (New Jersey) – W - $6,700 FanDuel, $5,000 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Bratt has found the back of the net in each of his last three games, and he’s recorded at least a point in eight of his last nine games. He’s up to 14 goals and 37 points in 38 contests, which is pretty good production out of a player at his price point.

Bargain Bin: Ondrej Palat (TBL) - $6,300 FanDuel/$4,700 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Anthony Duclair (FLA) - $6,200 FanDuel/$5,700 DraftKings/$22 Yahoo, Alex Killorn (TBL) - $5,900 FanDuel/$4,500 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Ryan Strome (NYR) - $5,900 FanDuel/$4,800 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Ross Colton (TBL) - $5,300 FanDuel/$2,900 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Brandon Saad (STL) - $5,300 FanDuel/$3,700 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Vincent Trocheck (CAR) - $5,300 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo

Kris Letang (Pittsburgh) - $7,300 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

Letang scored a pair of goals on Tuesday, making it the 11th time in his last 12 games that Letang has recorded at least a point. That’s made him the hottest defensemen in January with 17 points in those 12 games. He’s up to five goals and 37 points in 38 contests this season, which is good for sixth place in the blueliner scoring race.

Adam Fox (NY Rangers) - $7,100 FanDuel, $6,400 DraftKings, $25 Yahoo

Fox is entering tonight’s game on a six-game point streak. That run has included three multi-point contests, giving him two goals and 10 points over that span. He leads the defensemen scoring race with seven goals and 46 points in 43 games.

Tony DeAngelo (Carolina) - $6,500 FanDuel, $6,100 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo

DeAngelo registered an assist on Tuesday to extend his point streak to five games. He was a controversial signing for Carolina, but at a price of $1 million he’s contributed seven goals and 33 points in 32 contests this season.

Bargain Bin: Shea Theodore (VGK) - $6,400 FanDuel/$6,300 DraftKings/$21 Yahoo, Mark Giordano (SEA) - $5,500 FanDuel/$5,300 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Kevin Shattenkirk (ANA) - $5,500 FanDuel/$4,000 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Torey Krug (STL) - $5,400 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo

Igor Shesterkin (NY Rangers) - $8,600 FanDuel, $8,400 DraftKings, $39 Yahoo

Shesterkin has won his last seven starts and has allowed just 13 combined goals over that span. He’s having a terrific season overall too with a 20-4-2 record, 2.07 GAA, and .937 save percentage in 26 contests. The Rangers will be facing Columbus tonight, which has scored just seven goals over their last five games.
